and on a TI82, all non-hidden programs are selectable.

I think the reason why they changed it was the old TI82 bug: If you selected 
a program with long tokens in its name to recall, the recall text would 
overwrite the memory beyond textmem, change the contrast and cause glitches.

Sorta like the Disp "","","","","","","" : Input A bug...
Run that program on a TI82, press MATH, then 2ND OFF...  Glitches the calc, 
only getting to a menu and changing contrast normalizes it again.
