Didn't Linus already make a program called Ride or
something that did some neat graphics??

 You don't have to clear the screen, just clear the
graph buffer, write to it then copy it to the screen.

Also if you just want to see one then check out the
Zelda they are working on.  Its 3Dish and smooth
scrolling, ect..
