No, neither. I've realized that just setting the flags might not do it, since
they could be reset inside the input loop. But if they are, there's no way of
doing it.

PS. and when you read "no way of doing it" it means that there IS a way of
doing it. =) Just install an interrupt routine that modifies them, and when
the first key is pressed the interrupt routine goes into quiet mode. But this
is a bit extreme... =)
