A83: Re: Re: Derivatives?

I would have to agree there.  Writting the symbolic math core that it would take would be way too much overhead for the 83.  To do complex calculus functions, you would have to have all of the basic functions below them to call on.  It was talked about on the 86, but I seriously doubt anyone will write it.  Thought it wouldn't be too hard to write a program, even in basic, to do simple derivitives and integrals using the power rule, but in that case it's easier just to do it in your head...

The differentiator and integrator in the TI-89 is probably a larger program than the TI-83 has RAM.  So, to answer your question: no.  none exist.

There is a program for CP/M called MuMATH written by microsoft that does derivatives.  CP/M was an old operating system for the Z80 processor.  If you can find the source code to MuMATH, it could possibly be ported to the TI-83.  Remember though, that the Z80 has 64k of RAM but the TI-83 divides it into 32k ROM and 32k RAM.  So, MuMATH may need 64k of RAM to run...

As for integration.... well, I can probably safely say that there's no way it's gonna happen with only 32k.

Is there a program for the 83 that does derivatives?  How about integrals?  I would use my 89, but my teacher knows that it can do these, and wont let me use it on tests.  My teachers lets everyone use 83s, so I would like to have a program for the 83 that does both integration and differentiation.
