I thought there pretty much was a standard:
  
    2nd - Primary action
    Alpha - Secondary action
    XTO - Third action key
    Mode - Pause
    DEL - Save
    Clear - Exit

   At least that's how its done in Squarez, Zelda, Ztetris, Galaxian, 
Spaze Invaders, BoulderDash, PlainJump, Orzunoid, Pac-Man, Picross, and 
many others.
