(I wrote the follwing messages some time ago, but I have not been able to
send it before now. I decided to send it anyway if anyone is still
interested in this. After i wrote the mail i looked a bit at what crash
does, not I am quite sure the Sam Davies' routine is faster than the one
used by CRASH.)
Sam Davies wrote a buffcopy routine some time ago, and i have never seen
any routine faster than that. Besides making sure that the delays between
writes were as short as possible he also made sure the block writing was
used in a way which made the routine as fast as possible. I have not
looked at the source for Crash so i do not know how fast their routine is,
but my guess is that Sam Davies' routine is tha fastest. (You can probably
find it on ticalc).
