RE: A82: HP 'assembly' info wanted

The HP48 runs on a Saturn RISC CPU. 64-bit. I'm not sure about the clock speed, but even if it is slower (which I doubt), the data path gives it a TREMENDOUS advantage.
you can program in RPL, it's high-level language, System RPL, which is close to assembly, Saturn assembly, and C. The last two must be done offline, I think.

As for porting, good luck. It will NOT be very much fun, because:
1) The HP is entirely object-oriented. every last bit of each language for the HP is just so incredibly powerful and different from what we're stuck with that it's not even funny.
2) I hate to tell you, but it's just better. We have the better hackers on the TI side because of necessity.

You can port anything, but it's hardly worth it. the only really impressive HP-exclusive programs are certain add-ons that give it TI-92 like output ("Pretty Print"), and the IR programs. Everything else is already available for both ends.

Does anybody have ANY idea on how HP calc programming works? Or have any
examples of it. Because, well, maybe someone could get some ideas from
that calc, or port some games if it is at all possible. I am curious as
to how the languages differ, do the HP's run on a diffrent processor?
Please don't flame me because I mentioned HP on a TI list :)
