Re: A82: Custom 82p File Designer...

I could not remember having any problems with prgm82 when i made dump82, so
i just checled out how long time it takes to assembel Dump82. It took less
than 1 second to assemble Dump82 and then run prgm82 using the normal batch
file. Since most of the time was used starting TASM, i have a hard time
seeing how you get it to take 30 sec. The only thing prgm 82 is that it
reads the obj file from the disc, adds the header and writes the file again
(in case of dump rom, reads app 16k and writes 16k back). Using the figures
from Dump82 you are saying it takes 30 seks to read/write 32 ks of data,
thats app 1kbyte/sec (Have you concidered getting a new disc and replace
that 8086 1 kHz !). To make sure that the reason i got a lor lower number
than the one you got was not that my PC was just a lot faster than yours i
tried the same thing on an old 486 with a slow disc, and it took less than 4
sec to assemble and convert dump82. I do not mind you promoting your program
on this list, or that you say it is better than prgm82, but please use
realistic numbers. I also want to mention that i tried to convert a file
which was 120k, and i took 6 secs.
