PedroM 68k OS Released
Posted by Michael on 10 December 2003, 23:21 GMT

Patrick Pelissier, author of PreOS and other fine 68k programs, has written the first third-party operating system for the 68k calcs. The open-source PedroM looks like a Unix shell, has task switching and a much smaller size (only 192 KB). It is designed to be compatible with the AMS 1.xx series.

In order to include this OS in our archives, we have added categories for TI-89 Operating Systems, TI-92 Plus Operating Systems, and Voyage 200 Operating Systems.

Morgan has also been fixing up the TI-83 Plus Flash directory into subcategories of games, science, math, et cetera. New submissions should no longer go into the general Flash category but rather one of these new subcategories.

Update (Michael): We are currently being Slashdotted, but holding up just fine because HTTP requests are load-balanced among our Beowulf cluster of 2000 TI-85s. Bring it on!

It's for 89/92+ not V200. There is a different rom call system (I think) that prevents it from working correctly if it was compiled for 89/92+.

<shameless self promotion> BTW, Morvlon 3.00 works on all, plus has a CAS and other programs so that people can actually use it </shameless self promotion>

People like you just refuse to read readmes and manuals and insist on spreading false information. In short, your wrong, it does work on the V200.

Or at least it should. I haven't tested it yet.

I bet I'm the only person here who actually reads all the manuals that come with products. I've read the TIGCC documentation, the TI Flash Studio documentation, the ENTIRE AMS documentation for versions 1.05-2.09, the V200 documentation, EVERY SINGLE SUBROUTINE (that I use) README (and compiled them into a book) plus MUCH MORE. Additionally, I KNOW-I'm not being Aristotle and either lying or being a complete idiot. OK, so I'm not Kevin Kofler or Rusty Wagner or any of the other people who write TSRs and know a lot about hardware and hacking. But what I do know is THE STUFF DOESN'T WORK ON MY CALC. Maybe you're the one who is "spreading false information."

O_o What is Morvlon 3.00, anyways?

Yes, I usually read every readme file I know of, but I don't exactly read AMS documentations, I don't even know what AMS documentations ARE.

Morvlon 3.00 is currently a partially completed shell OS for the 89, 92+, and V200. It essentially is meant to have all possible features that Windows XP has. See the link for details.

AMS documentation is the online guide for AMS.

Additionally, reading my comment over, I can see why you went off on me. That was a really stupid error.

"rom call" should be "hardware structure and VAT"

Have you noticed that PedroM is in 'TI-89 Operating Systems' and 'TI-92 Plus Operating Systems', but not 'Voyage 200 Operating Systems'? You should try not to critisize so quickly, and so severely.

No, I'm not saying PedroM doesn't work on Voyage 200's.

However, it may only be 'for' V200s in the sense that it will load, run, and constantly crash.

It isn't because I am not sure it works on V200, since you can't send it to V200.
But if you compile with the flag V200, it produces a V200 ROM image.

PedroM would work on the V200 if you could send it to it. News are that ExtendeD (Olivier Armand) is working on it, with some help from Patrick Pélissier (PpHd). In the meantime, you can try it out on VTI.

I must say: it should work on V200 (since nobody has tested it).

The point is that you _can't_ test it without a TIB Receiver port or clone.
