Space Dementia II
Posted by Michael on 4 September 2003, 04:41 GMT

Thibaut Chevalier has released a successor to his popular space shooter, Space Dementia. This new multiplayer version, Space Dementia II, features even more breathtaking 3-D graphics as you battle in space with another 89, 92+, or Voyage 200. The game (which is open source) runs on his FlatSpin engine, providing the real-time 3-D graphics. On one last note, external ships from Space Dementia will not work in this new version.

Wow, that is such a good 3D engine...this version is a million times cooler than Space Dementia 1. Too bad it's only multiplayer :(

I've run it on a HW1 89 and HW2 V200. It works fine. If yu want slightly better proformance get the faster calc to host.

Dont fret (worry?) Im making a game in basic that wil be huge but the problem is that it will become a FLASH application... its an RPG btw. It should come out in about a year.

Keep in mind that you can only make flash apps out of assembly programs. BASIC programs cannot be used as flash apps without being ported to assembly first.

accually, there are more asm prgms for 83+ (z80) than for M68k. I like my 89 but I'm very glad I have 83+ as well! :)

Whoops, Michael... I never got back to you to tell you how awesome this game is. I guess you figured it out yourself. :-)

I pointed it out to him, but I highly doubt he could miss a game with such caliber. I haven't played it yet, but does it support loading your own personalized ships? And if so, will the ships from the first game work with this one? Guess I will go play it now.

This is only the first playable version. Right now only internal ships are supported so If you don't like that, wait for a later one.

That's right. I am thinking at making an AI for the game to be available in single player, but it won't be done before a long time (ont at home).

External ships can be supported without any modifications of the ship files... That's a good point !

I think the very fact that it is multiplayer is what makes it such a good game. There are very few games out there that even have the ability to play with more than yourself. Many of which have the ability to multiplay, but don't work. DIFFERENT PROGRAMS ARE GOOD. As of right now we have just shy of 500 quadratic programs. So you can see how getting an original program here and there is exciting. Anyway this is one of the best programs I have seen, with the best graphics.

Hey! I made a quadratic formula program! LOL...

But yes, I agree... multiplayer programs are cool. There's an added level of excitement when you play a game against a friend. It's MUCH more fun.

Hey... why is ticalc.org going so slowly today? It's taking me about 2 minutes to load a page!

The server has to do a whole lot of stuff starting around 23:00 GMT (which is when you posted) so it can have the stats ready to update at 0:00 GMT.

I have to admit I made one too :-( At least mine was in ASM and came with a lot more than just a quadratic solver. The graphics are a little weak, but I suck at ASM so what do you expect. See link :-)

If you like origional programs, you're gonna love the high end programs I'm working on. One is gonna be co-wrote by me, JcN, W Hibidon, and Billy Ella. You woln't know what it is until it comes out though... Just a few more months :P

Other projects I'm working on include a high end C database, and an update to my QuadForm 5 software. Otherwise, well, I'm not saying anything more... :P :P :P

Its time for the take over, breaks over...

I bet it was written in C... just a guess, though. Hey, it's open source. You can check. I would, but ticalc is going abnormally slow today.
