TI Parallel Link support in Linux 2.4.21
Posted by Magnus on 13 June 2003, 20:18 GMT

Linux kernel 2.4.21 has just been released, and guess what - it now has built in support for the TI Parallel Link using the driver developed by Romain Liévin.

The driver has been available before as a standalone patch, but should be easier to handle now. Hopefully, it will make its way into the kernels included in the mainstream distributions as well. Nice job, Romain!

The rest of you - off you go to your nearest kernel.org mirror.

And I'd prefer an answer instead of just having my comment deleted.

There were three pages (for me, anyway).

It was a 50-comment flame war about Linux and Windows. It's been argued before, and it doesn't need to be done here.

Ah. I see. Does this new kernel *work*? What's the point of including support in the kernel, anyway? Why don't you just install an extra module, making the kernel d'load smaller?
There's a load of outdated rubbish in it, the last time I saw someone build it (though kind of nostalgic - especially with Econet support and ADFS disk readers for us old Acorn users!)

Yep, the kernel works.
The stuff in the kernel is not outdated rubbish. It's outdated, but not rubbish, there are still people out there who use that stuff, bless them.

You generally don't need to download every single kernel update. Just download the occasional big one. You can I believe also just download the patch to update the kernel you have to the latest one, never tried it though.

I really respect webpages that don't remove comments. Well, I'm removing ticalc.org from my group of slashdot slashboxes. I've got other sites I read.

Ah, again with the "respect" angel. Look, this site has a policy about off topic posts. While I don't agree, there is nothing I can do about it.

Woah... Flashbach to when I was shouting at that parot head for this same thing.

I see what you mean. It would be nice to keep opinions around. But that does result in a load of trash accumulating in a place where it is OT.

So, would it be possible some time to create a system where any deleted flame wars are moved to a 'banned' area so people can continue having a good slagging match and asserting authority where they don't have a clue what they are talking about. (Yep, even good ol' me has done it)

As it says in the guidelines before posting a comment, "Other users want to read replies relevant to a particular article, and general discussion should be kept to other areas, such as our Mailing Lists." By deleting huge OT threads, the comment boards are much easier to read and therefore much more useful.
