Newsletter Officially Back
Posted by Joey on 1 May 2003, 02:44 GMT

The ticalc.org newsletter is officially back from its two-year hiatus. The May 2003 issue was mailed out today in plain text format. We encountered some problems with the HTML, so if you are subscribed to the HTML list, your newsletter will arrive shortly. If you just can't wait, the newsletter will be available every month in eBook format for the 89 and the 92+. In the newsletter, there is a mention of David Coz's new game, "Prince of Persia". A demo of it has been released here. Judging by David's past work, it is going to be an excellent game.

Update (Joey): Thanks to Chris and Magnus, the HTML version of the newsletter has been sent out! If you received it twice, my apologies.

Putting the newsletter in ebook format.. That's an awesome idea, actually.

Great news!
Oh. Why is POP for the 68K calcs? Why can't us lesser mortals have one too? :)
(It's one of my favourite PC games of all time - even though it was originally for a Mac).

Almost the same here (the Lost Vikings is better). I hope there will be cheats, as POP is INSANELY hard.

There may be developer's cheats :)

It looks really cool. The hanging on the wall thing looks interesting. I think it will turn out to be a good game.

The same file will be updated every month, so the most recent issue will always be in the same place.

No, no there won't

It is like updating a file that you uploaded. Every ebook will replace the previous week's ebook. I.e.: there will be only one newsletter ebook at a given time.

I like that idea. You could send it to your calc and read it during a boring class in school! :)

Good idea.... I missed this one (didn't subscribe in time), so I'll do it! Why can't I read it in .txt format on the website?

Hmm... I don't know.

What program do you use to read the 89y text files on your calculator? Is there some special text reading program that's out there that I never noticed?

You'll need the eBook reader to read eBooks. Click the link above.

I think they're only going to post HTML versions of the newsletter in the Past Newsletter section, so until they fix the HTML version, we can't see it. I suscribed too late also :)

YAY for the newsletter. Once, when I realized that it had stopped, I was wondering if my subscription had been cancled. I then checked the site and realized that none had been sent out for a while. Subscribed to the HTML list, I still haven't gotten it :(

Despite the fact that it has been posted to the HTML list TWICE, no one (not even no_one) has received it. Even I haven't gotten the HTML copy. I'll ask Magnus or Henrik for help tomorrow morning.

Chris was helping me send out the newsletter, and this is his diagnosis of the problem: "my email-sending prowess is heretofore uncontested, so I can only imagine it's a server issue."
