Integrated Desktop Released
Posted by Michael on 26 April 2003, 21:42 GMT

Olivier Armand has released Integrated Desktop for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200. This piece of eye candy will add your programs as icons to the Apps Desktop that is in AMS versions 2.07 and 2.08. It has built-in icons for popular programs, but you can also create your own.

Update (Michael): A new version has been released, with a bug fix. Download it to prevent crashes.

Wow. Looks cool. Ill download it. It looks a little like a better mirage OS with a windows desktop look. Ill install it after the AP calculus test, May 8, after I clear all of my math programs off of my calc.

I'm sure you mean the "new" functions.. You should be able to find most of that information in the Voyage 200 guidebook. TI has it in PDF form, split up by chapter. If you're already familiar with the TI-89 or 92+, I'd recommend going straight to the function list to see what they added and modified.

*looks for guidebook link & posts*

The program looks usefull, and I would download it, but alot of programs, espcially ones with launchers, do not work with ams 2.08. I guess I'll just admire it.

It is true that PPG-lauchers created with old version of TIGCC do not work on AMS 2.07/2.08. But you can use the latest version of TICT's general launcher 'ttstart' than can run any PPG file, and that will work on AMS 2.07/2.08. Get it in the TIGCC Tools suite (the link is above)

By the way, Integrated Desktop can display PPG files on the desktop and run them, if you have 'ttstart' on your calculator.

I have ttstart. So, let me understand. All I have to do is use "ttstart" to launch the ppg file, not the asm file, and it will run?

Am I the only person here who's heard of the TICT Explorer??? I always see people complaining about launcher issues, but those issues aren't a problem with it. It has built in support for breaking the size barriers and launching ppg files without their launchers. It also has a quick and clean navigation system and can copy, delete, move, archive, etc... It's always on my calculator and usually running, I haven't used the tios var-link in ages.

Really. Tict-explorer is really the best ti-89 prog there is. Esp when used with pre-os. However I had to alter and recompile pre-os to have it find tict-explorer on my calculator.

PreOS is a kernel that allows you to run certain programs. It's not a shell (no GUI), but I like to think of it as a temporary patch.

<i>I haven't used the tios var-link in ages.</i><br><br>Nor have I, but this integrated desktop thingy is nowhere near as quick as my custom menus. I have a lot of software kicking around in there - mostly small ti-basic apps designed to take the grunt out of getting actual work done, and the custom menus are a much better way of getting at files in a structural/hierarchical way that makes them easy to find without having to leave the "nornal" calculator environment where you are getting things done.<br><br>When AMS 2.08 first came out, the standard desktop was handy as a means of keeping the clock close to hand, but now there are at least 2 excellent utilities (Incredible Status Line and CoolClock) that do it on the nornal calcultor status line.

That is a program I will never part with. I have never had any problems with it and it makes orginization so much easier. I particularly like the ppg support because it makes it so that I do not need to have the individual launchers on the calc.

Yes, but the ones with launchers don't work. Or more correctly, the launchers them selves don't work, you need "ttstart".

In case you haven't noticed, one ttstart program takes a lot less memory that ten custom decompressors.
And if you really need a custom decompressor, use

:EndPrgm

I think it would be awsome if you could set it up to dual boot between Linux and something else like a Solaris or TI-OS. But Linux of course would be the primary OS.

Correct. AMS 2.08 added the "Icon Desktop" (which would obviously be required by this) and a couple trig functions I'd already had coded anyway. I'll just stick with AMS 2.03 unless they eventually release a new good version.

Re: ~

If it is a HW2, 'Hardware Version 2.00' is written somewhere in the window. If it is a HW1, the hardware version may not be given.
HW1 calculators are old ones (the calculator should be a HW1 if it was bought less than 3 years ago).
