TI Connect v1.2.1 and 73 Explorer
Posted by Michael on 6 March 2003, 01:07 GMT

TI Connect v1.2.1 has been released. The key update is that TI-GRAPH LINK now works with the black serial cable on Windows XP and 2000, through the use of a service.

Also, the TI-73 Explorer now lives. It's just a rename of the TI-73, but remember, more letters make it better!

The key here is that it now "works" they said that before too, but it didn't work, at least not for me. Hopefully they got it right this time, I'd like to be able to send stuff to my calc in Windows again (I use TiLP under Linux and it works fine).

Why don't you use TiLP in Windows then?

So, does anyone have the new 73 yet? If I were TI, I'd fix that annoying bug in the boot code that lets you load an unsigned OS.

It's certainly ugly enough.

What is wrong with the bug/feature. Personally, while not actually doing any OS developing of any sort, I still like the idea of having the ability. You could do all sorts of things. Add your own features, functions, etc...

Nah, probably the TI-82 Blue Edition. Purple wouldn't go well with the 2nd graders.

Looking at the 73, I'm hoping that an 86+ isn't next in line ... as much as I'd like an improved 86, TI's current trend in calculator design is making me have second thoughts.

Why did I even look at a picture of the 73?
It's just a glorified scientific calculator ... and it's supposed to serve as a bridge between the TI-15 and the 83+ SE. What's next? A new calculator to serve as a bridge between the TI-15 and the 73? Come to think of it, I wouldn't be at all surprised if TI DID do that.

I've hit the post button more than once before by accident and I never posted two identical messages... of course, MV probably deleted it before I hit the back button twice LOL

YES! The purple TI-82. Of course, I could just paint mine... but that would look rather 5(r3w3y, imo. I like it gray.

They need to make the TI-82 Gold Edition, with real gold. That would be so cool, and it has a mp3 player and 6GB of memory. Yeah :)

I'm glad they updated TI connect, but the 73 idea is just stupid...

btw...does anyone know if there is a version of VTI with the voyage 200 as a base calc?

Just use the TI-92 Plus AMS 2.08 rom, it's exactly the same and the *.9xu OS update file from TI's website works as a valid ROM image, I think that has something to do with it being written in C.

Also all 89 OSs work with VTI

Seriously? I just never tried the 2.08 ROM because all the other new roms never seemed to work on VTI for other calculators.

This is a strange thought, "calculator" is probably the word I make typos on (I know, don't end a sentence with a preposition, but who cares?). You'd think that I'd get it right eventually without having to fix it each time *cry*, especially with all the time I spend here... <EMBED SRC="scary_music.wav" LOOP= "until_post_is_done_being_read"> (new scary music tag)

Only the clock dosen't work in 2.08. I think all the new OS for all calcs work under VTI as a ROM, but you would have to check on that.

I heard that the new TI-83/+ roms didn't run correctly on VTI. 1.14 or something, right?

The first calc I owned was an 89 (5 yrs old) and got a V200 about a month ago for the mem, speed and screen size. Plus I've accientally bumped my 89 off tables at school about 2+ dozen times.

In other words I've just stayed with 68k line and never really messed with the z80's.
