Command Post Released
Posted by Michael on 17 February 2003, 04:34 GMT

Command PostGreg Dietsche has released his utility Command Post for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200. This flash application provides advanced facilities for 68k developers to debug and test their programs on the calculator. It has anti-crash protection, leak watching, an extensive hex editor, and many other tools. Developers will soon love this program, and everyone now has the ability to examine and learn from the calculator's structure.

Does ticalc upload files by date or by coolness? I've uploaded my file months ago but it has still not appeared yet. This command post file has been made and added to the pending list on February 15th, 2003 and is added to the archive the same day! Why?

They really need to get working on the archives... I've had files in there for months. What's the queue up to now?

We're working on summing up our impressions of the applications (there were a *lot* of them), and expect to be contacting people about interviews sometime this week. Hopefully.

Your Author Profile Page is rather empty right now. It is kind of odd that you have 0 files but you still have some downloads. Looks like there ae still a few bugs in the sites system.

Don't remind them! ;-)

I don't know if they'd disqualify you for that or not. I guess it would depend on how bad it was, but another drug game really isn't that bad. After all, that game Drug Wars was probably the most popular BASIC game ever made. (and I never tried it while I had the chance lol)

well, too late now. I just want the job, so I'm going the honesty route.

BTW, I have a copy of drugwars, if you would like a copy of it, and I'll even through in a copy of Weed4. (It was a big hit at my school.)

I used to have that, a kid at my school made a couple versions (they were HUGE levels). I used those programs to learn BASIC :) And I wouldn't mind a copy, just for old-times sake. Does calc.org allow those kind of files? They used to even when ticalc.org didn't...

No_one, how do you get your files pending queue to display? Whenever I click on Manage Author Information I get a page telling me to attach an author profile. I've already started uploading the 60 files I have created over the past few years that are worth publishing, and I am not receiving any sort of queue like you and others described. What am I doing wrong?

You need to first have an author profile. Which is created when your first file gets approved in the archives.

I thought it showed the queue even when you didn't have one. Perhaps it doesn't. I should probably check that out.

Thanks, Magnus. I don't have any files approved yet, but I've uploaded a few, and I'm still uploading them. I guess I'll have to wait for at least one out of 63 to be approved.

It could be because none of them were actually uploaded yet. Are they all still in the archives? If you wait long enough, they'll come in and most likely your author profile should come up. I started mine a long time ago, so I really don't remember too well.

Merlijn (did I spell your name right?) has made some very good programs. It's not because of the quality, it's about if they have a news item or not. Somebody e-mails them saying "Yo, I got a cool file, bla bla bla...." and they check it out, and if they think it's good enough they make a news item about it.

quit changing what you go by. Choose angelboy (gay sounding) or your name. Stick with it.

And yes, ther are archived by a little bias, but that is ok by me, cuz it seems like the good programs get updated first. So I dont care.

I havent found this program useful yet, but I did have fun screwin around with it. Great Job.

Woah, now. You are telling me that if I know C, then I can program an app with no problems? I have been looking for an app tutorial for some time, and now you tell me that C will do it?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Command Post Released

Well, there's a difference between knowing C and knowing how to program an app. The ti flash sdk uses a c compiler, but you have to learn the specifics of app programming. Knowing c will be a HUGE help, but it certainly won't make it an easy ride.

If you download the Flash SDK from TI you can also download the documentation for it. You can also ask people who have made apps like Greg. Unless you absolutely need to make an app, I suggest using tigcc for programming.

swtaarrs, how does one make an app with the Flash SDK? Is it raw HEX code, or is it in z80 or A68K assembly?

The sdk for the 68k calcs is in C. I'm not sure about the z80 calcs, I think that one might be assembly.

It is different from tigcc. It's somewhere at education.ti.com. However, I HIGHLY recommend tigcc over the sdk. It has a better (imho) library, more people willing to help you with it, and it's open source :-).

p00p.

When one writes a Flash App for a z80 calc, is it written in Assembly or HEX? (I was so confused when I tried to run the debugger, that I didn't even know which was which). Also, when one writes Flash Apps for MC68000 calcs, can they be written in C and compiled via their flash developers?

Assembly (Z80 assembly of course).

>Also, when one writes Flash Apps for MC68000 calcs, can they be written in C and compiled via their flash developers?

Their 68k Flash SDK is for C compiling, so of course they can be written in C. It's even your only practical choice.
