83+ Puzzle Games Released
Posted by Michael on 4 February 2003, 06:12 GMT

Two puzzle games have been released for the 83+. The first, FinnPack by Andreas Finne, is a flash application collection of Dots and Towers of Hanoi, both classic games.

Joe Pemberton and Joel Seligstein have released Dr. Mario as an Ion game for the 83/83+. Modeled after the NES version, this is sure to bring you infectious hours of virus killing fun.

Dr Mario:
Very good, fun game (it's a little like Tetris II for GameBoy, except that had more tetris-like pieces). I know that it is the same as Dr Mario for GameBoy. Simple to play - I am rather used to using the up button for flip though.

FinnPack:
Two simple, yet fun games. Problem: it is a flash app (aaargh!) and so takes up way too much memory for the humble 83+ (not SE). I only just beat the calculator in dots (in the UK it's called 'boxes'), so good AI there (or maybe I'm just st00pid). The towers of hanoi game is good too.

Overall, two great puzzle games there. Well done!

Is it a different AI than in the other calculator version? 'Cause that AI was pretty easy :)

I'm used to the up button for flip too. Maybe its from playing tetris on the computer a lot when I was young.

Maybe - on ZTRIS you use the up button for flip, certainly.

No, MAYBE you got it from playing too much tetris on your computer, but ztris CERTAINLY uses the up button.
I dropped English for a reason :)

The thing I like about them is their archive memory. It r0xx0rs. You could download the whole ticalc game archive and fit it on there. That would be fun. I would do that, but I don't have an se.

How so? Well, my friends have come to me a few times asking questions like "Why don't my lists appear" and stuff, but there was nothing major, except when every time you turned on my one friend's calc it would immedieatly flash off. That was weird.

I can't save money :(
I have a fixed amount - if that runs out it is refreshed. I don't get it on a regular basis.

So, you can't have more than a certain amount of money? That's odd.
