Zelda Demo Released for the 89
Posted by Michael on 26 January 2003, 19:25 GMT

Jason Ho has released a demo of his upcoming game, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Although not finished, the game looks promising, especially the smooth graphics. The author also plans to release the game's engine for others to create more Zelda games.

Aaah, another zelda game.

However, it does tend to bring out the best engines that people make so always something to look forward to.

Yeah I'm a good friend of Jason's and I promise you this game will rule. I mean he made Alien Invasion, which is probably one of the fastest running, best games for the TI-89. He's a true programer and even if he doesn't complete the ENTIRE game (which..is obviously a huge task to undertake alone), he has lots of surprises in store.

Yeah, Alien Invasion is pretty cool.

To be a good programmer, you can't be lazy. That's my biggest problem. ;)

Gosh, posts are dissapearing faster than we're writing them!

I'm going to send that to my calc again. Somehow my calc crashed and I lost a lot of stuff (back when I didn't archive stuff)

Lucky people with flashy 68k calcs...

Why can't we get some really cool games for 83+?

Well.... cause we're better :-P j/k

The 68k calcs really are good for games. Fun! :) It's weird... I use my TI-89 for text recording and games. I ust my TI-82 for math. :)

And if I get GOOD with 83+ z80, then I'll port it :) (but most likely, that won't happen, lol)

or, esweecoo can port it, just like he ported all of chickendude's other games :-p But i doubt that you can achieve the grayscale gfx with a 4 mhz(?) processor (correct me if i'm wrong).

Monopoly doesn't have grayscale, does it? (And I've seen grayscsale on the TI-82... it's crappy, but it can be done--check out Donkey Kong for CrASH)

Only the title screen, so just skip it or make it plain. And right now, it's nothing to advanced. And I haven't used many ROM calls, so that shouldn't be much of a problem :)
I think you could port it without a problem :D (*hopes*)

It probably won't be too bad to port... and even so, if not me, then esweecoo. The TI-83+ z80 and the TI-82 z80 asm aren't that different. The major differences are the names of the ROM calls, and the memory adresses. Even if I didn't know them, I could look them up, or just by common sense figure out what they do.

z80 = 8MHz processor running @ 6MHz (RC timing circuit apart from in TI-83+SE - xtal).

Yeah, there is a megaman for the 83+. Although it's a little slow, it's very nice :)

Completely Off Topic, but needs to be said.

EVERYONE needs to stop harassing Michael Vincent about deleting off topic posts. You fail to realize that he has all the power. Maybe instead of pissing him off, you should butter him up and he might be a little more leanant. Anyway, if your lives are so insignificant that the only way you feel like communicating with the general public is through these boards, you SERIOUSLY need to get a life.

You write something off-topic, it will be deleted. Guess what, I have a solution for all your porblems. STOP WRITING OFF-TOPIC POSTS AND GET A LIFE. Complaining is not going to get you anywhere!

I have tried the Zelda Demo for the 89 and it is great. While it is only a demo it has great potential to become one of the best Zelda games for any calculator. I envy anybody who can produce games of this quality. Good Work!

>>>"EVERYONE needs to stop harrassing Michael Vincent" about deleting off-topic posts"
Not everybody is harrassing him. And if you are referring to me, I'm not trying to harrass him, but it is just my preference that we don't have censoring. I can have opinions, can't I?

>>>"Maybe instead of pissing him off, you should butter him up and he might be a little more leaneant"
What's sucking up going to do? That's not going to make him delete LESS of our comments in the future.

>>>"Anyway, if your lives are so insignificant that the only way you feel like communicating with the general public is through these boards, you SERIOUSLY need to get a life."
Sorry to dissapoint you, but I do check these boards five times as much as I do my mail. Insulting people isn't going to help you or anyone. It didn't help the people who insulted MV. It shouldn't help you to insult me either.

>>>"Complaining is not going to get you anywhere!"
I do agree, actually. Complaining won't, but negotiating will. That's why I suggested the General Discussion board (w/o moderation). And Magnus said they WOULD create it after the behind the scenes changes.

I think the people who complain about the people who complain about MV are complaining just as much as the people who are complaining about MV themselves (that didn't sound quite right... but try to make sense out of it anyways)

My point here isn't to bash MV... I just have my own preference about the moderation, just like everyone else. I'm trying to state that preference peacefully.
