TI Releases ROM v1.15 for the 83+
Posted by Nick B. on 26 August 2002, 05:52 GMT

OS 1.15 has magically become available for the 83+. We're told that this version adds two features: TI-keyboard support and improved support for the CBL2 on the Silver Edition.

If either of these things apply to you, or you complusively need the latest and greatest thing, visit the TI store and select the appropiate subsection.

Great... new "NEW" OS. It stinks. Like the Windows versions. Win95 is better than XP. Heh, 1.15 is nothing new, adds drivers for the keyboard. BTW one error I have found: SM (Super Mario) 1.2 seems to lave a drawing error. hmmm... looks like we need to update all our ASM games.

ME sucks balls. Windows 98 is sooo much better than ME. My friend has ME on his new Compaq and it crashes all the time, especially when playing Counter-Strike.

i totally agree about the ME stuff, but 98 is pretty shitty too (ya, ya it's winblows). and you prolly have an old CS cuz the last one doesn't crash (for me at least). also, Win2K and XP are the best ones and worth an upgrade (oh yes, and turn off that ugly XP skin if you get XP...). Anyways, i'm pretty happy after i switched to XP from Me even though some of my older soft doesn't run on XP even with its fake program compatibility mode.

atleast 95 is unstable enough to run almost any shit-crap program there is on the market. If Microsoft updated the drivers for that thing, I would run it on my computer which is damn fast

Don't you mean stable instead of unstable?
Microsoft (and other companies) don't bother to update the Windows 95 drivers because 95 is too old ... they'd rather spend resources updating, say, the XP and 98 drivers.

You are wrong. It is a computer.

Think of computer more in the sense of "something that computes" - although this isn't a workable definition.

All ti graphing calculators fit the definition of a computer.

I think I have the slowest comp here LOL. I happen to have an old IBM PC in my bedroom that I use a lot when i'm not using my faster K6 400.

Specs:
6MHz Intel 8088
640K RAM
DOS 3.30
Very slow 32MB HD
CGA Monitor (capable of 8 colors)
1200 Baud (I think) modem

Can anyone beat that? I think thats like the slowest you can go on a 'real' computer.

Just stick it on the back of your calc LOL. I had a Intel 486DX-33 and I stuck it on the back of the battery case for looks. Of course I had to modify the hard cover, but the result is pretty cool. A lot of people actually like my TI-83+ over theirs just because of a fake decoration! (because they think my calc is powered by a 486, not a Z80 LOL)

Win 3.1 isn't bad. It's entirely 16 bit so it's very stable. Win95 is 16 & 32 bit s it's very unstable. That's why NT based is better. It's all 32-bit.

Maybe it's not only stability, but also privacy. With every new Service Pack that comes out, you have to allow Windows more and more to go tell everything you're busy with to Big Brother MS.
I wonder how long it will take before everyone will be installing a firewall, not to prevent intruders from getting in, but to prevent Windows from going out...

On a side note, a couple months back, in France, MS got sued for piracy. (Yes the company that fights piracy harder than any other.) Of course they kept this quiet as much as possible. Anyway, to the point, how do you think they obtained the code?
