TI Releases ROM v1.15 for the 83+
Posted by Nick B. on 26 August 2002, 05:52 GMT

OS 1.15 has magically become available for the 83+. We're told that this version adds two features: TI-keyboard support and improved support for the CBL2 on the Silver Edition.

If either of these things apply to you, or you complusively need the latest and greatest thing, visit the TI store and select the appropiate subsection.

that is if it uses even MORE ram for reals, and complexes...

and it is even slower (like 1.14 is, at least in the mem menu)

... and it requires even more ram.

can someone please gimme the numbers on a blank calc (free ark, ram, and amount used by lists (in relation to size), matricies, and reals..

thankz

Actually, I just e-mailed TI asking how much Ram the Ti-83 plus SE really had and this is what they said:

Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments, an educational technology
company.

The TI-83 Plus and the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition have the same amount of
RAM( 24 K). However, the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition has 1.5 MB of Flash ROM,
almost 2.5 times the size of the TI-83 Plus ROM.
We do not have announced plans to release a operating system that would
allow to add more RAM to the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you have further questions or
comments please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Please copy
this message in your response and send directly to ti-cares@ti.com for
faster service on replies.

As you can see, the SE only has 24k ram TOTAL.(unfortunatly)

First of all, i've gotten Mulanda Kamba's responses before too, and she is a dumbass. She doesn't know a damn about anything, and... 1500000/160 does NOT equal 2.5! The speed is 2.5 times faster, not the ROM size.

Those things are cheap ... keep a calculator in a backpack long enough and they slide right off. They could at least use a stronger adhesive ....
And what kind of a name is Mulanda Kamba? it sounds like the name of the resident World Controller in Brave New World.

Oh ... that sounds right (it'd explain the name) ... except why is the head of the overseas department answering customer support e-mails?

Actually the entire string of posts were jokes. But really talk about Alkeida (Spelling please) in her name. I'm not being stereo typical just so you all know. Hey actually I'm black. How many black people do you know that are 16 and can program at my level(it's pretty bad cause I can program in Basic completly). I'm learning ASM. I need somebody to teach me and help cause I downloaded the how to program in ASM thing btu it was pretty hard to understand (Note this is not the one from here).

Actually, the SE's extra RAM was discussed in the Gemini article. According to Michael Vincent, the SE has 96 KB of RAM (somewhere around there, I forget the number). So there IS extra RAM on the SE, it just isn't accessible through the OS.

That's 128 KB...32 KB is the normal RAM that we all use and love :). RAM pages 0 and 1 are used by the OS. The difference is 96 KB extra on the SE (pages 2-7). By the way, that's 40h-41h on the 83+ and 80h-87h on the SE.

Sorry I didn't know the exact number ... I don't use an 83+ (I dislike the 83 series mainly because my 86 is better, in my opinion).

connect4

I'm surprised this wasn't put as an update to the Gemini article... after all, the staff somehow found a connection between King of Fighters and Jigsaw 86... I can see the connection between Gemini and this, can't you?

Goody.

Anyone noticed that ti-connect will always fail the transfer of anything over 4KB that isn't in a format it knows?

I tried loading some stuff on my ti-89 earlier, and nothing would load except the stuff handled natively by the calc and software. No ASM files would be transferred, until I tried a >4k program (the bouncing ball thing).

That worked. Using AMS 2.08 no less.

I can't use the old Graphlink software on my computer (windows 2000) for some strange reason (neither my desktop nor laptop), it can't get access to the COM port. Though with ti-connect I can capture the screen all I want, and transfer stuff fine.

I also tried TiLP, and while it supported screenshots and manual control, whenever I tried to transfer files, it always complained about a connection issue...

Black cable, it says "Unable to communicate with the device!."

But only on files over 4k, and with the extension .89y and .89z

.89z/.89y files under 4k or any other .89* file work.
