TI Releases ROM v1.15 for the 83+
Posted by Nick B. on 26 August 2002, 05:52 GMT

OS 1.15 has magically become available for the 83+. We're told that this version adds two features: TI-keyboard support and improved support for the CBL2 on the Silver Edition.

If either of these things apply to you, or you complusively need the latest and greatest thing, visit the TI store and select the appropiate subsection.

I think it'd be better to say "TI-Keyboard support"...after all, I can use my 83+'s built-in keyboard just fine with 1.14 :)

Hey I've got the same problem. That's what you get when you can only use the internet at schools. Sorry man ;)

Is your admin any good? On my school we worked around all "security" meassures our wannabe admin installed. (We couldn't use notepad for crying out loud!)

The blocking crap is not as bad as that, but it's still as bad as crap if you can't download anything

Do you mean download or install? Because I think it'd be kind of hard to block downloading ...
If they won't let you install, that's a different matter. I think the usual way to do it is prevent the registry from being modified. In that case, PKZip can be installed (I've tried it and it worked).

There is a way to block downloads in both Win and Mac. The administrative powers that be (Win 2k systems, as well as Macs) can block the hard drive from being written. The only time the hard drive can write is when an admin does so, in designated folders, or by designated programs (i.e. internet cache, etc.)

This is a very annoying option on the systems as it's hard to download any important files when you don't get a floppy drive or CDR.

Yuck. That would be annoying. And you don't have the internet at home? Oh well, maybe you'll get it some day, you never know.

We had an admin who didn't know much about computers, not as much as a couple of the students anyway. Furthermore, she wouldn't listen when we had very reasonable requests.
So we "solved" those reasonable requests ourself, and while we were at it, we kinda hacked a lot of other stuff too.......

lol, i once went on and decoded the school passwords. was pretty cool having all the possible network programs accessible. but thanksfully, i stopped doing that early enough cuz one guy in my class caught this idea from me and got caught (he hot like 2 weeks of suspension, and apparenlty he didn't get any fines along with that). anyways, i don't suggest anyone to follow my steps. ;)

He does mean downloads, AND install. I know this guy. He goes to my school. He's a real nice guy. Anyways,
I know what it's like to not be able to download and stuff. Hey, why don't you try opening it as source code?

Don't say the same thing more than once..... And what do you mean by "I've been looking for an upgrade all my 8x's life and just now found the highest you can get for now!"? OS 1.14 has been around for a while, you could've upgraded to that long ago, or upgraded to 1.13, which imo is the best.
