Kirk Meyer Releases Fast 3D Grapher for TI-83+
Posted by Andy on 12 August 2002, 04:44 GMT

Kirk Meyer of Detached Solutions released a flash application Graph³. It is faster than the TI-89's built-in grapher. It features rotation, zooming, tracing, and more. It also draws either wireframe or hidden surface plots (and rotation is fast with either).

Update (Andy): Version 1.0 is now available, which fixes some bugs as well as compatibility with OS version 1.13.

I have the same problem with PERL, I don't think it's Win2000's fault, you should try contacting the people on your server or something...

For those of you who manage to read to this point: Here are some workarounds until I release a new version (I'm trying to collect bug fixes into one new version):
* After entering 3D mode (Y= Y=), do not push GRAPH without first changing something (modify Z1 and change back, or go to WINDOW and re-enter one of the values).
* Do not attempt to recall tokens from Omnicalc or Symbolic into Z1 by using 2nd ENTER.
* Generally try not to push STAT PLOT, TBLSET, CALC, or TABLE.

Hey, Kirk, on the DetachedSolutions page, it says:
"Kirk is well known for his past contributions to the TI scene, and through Detached Solutions will be producing more great software for the TI-83 Plus, TI-89, and Voyage 200."
Are we going to see anything for the 68k soon? Also, have you abandoned the 86? One series question. What made you peek your head out of retirement this time? Are you planning on going back into retirement soon? Sorry for this long list. You know, if I had an 83+, I would try it, but VTI doesn't support flash apps for the 83+ yet.

I have programmed for the 68k calculators and may or may not release stuff for them at Detached Solutions.

I have mostly abandoned the 86. Its user base is loyal, but small. When making a program (such as this one), it's nice that as many people as possible can use it.

It seems that I can't release anything without retirement coming up. In summary, what happened is I thought I hated programming, but it ended up that I only half-hated it. Therefore, I release stuff from time to time, as I find projects that interest me.

If you *really* want to try it, you could try it with TI's 83+ emulator.

Will we see any of your 68k programms? I really would like to see them, seeing as how you are one the the best 86 programmers. The reason why I brought up your retirement was because, the last time, I pretty much knew you had retired, and then BAM! you release this awesome game for the 86 (even though I also had my 89 at the time). I though you had come back, and was wondering when we would see more awesome programs.
Then you go back into reitirement, and then BAM! you release this program, and the same. I am wondering if you will go back into hibernation or if the community will see some more high-quality programs in the near future.

Additional note for SE users:
* If you're using OS version 1.13, you will have to reset your RAM if you want to uninstall. Upgrading to 1.14 fixes the problem (and of course it'll be fixed when I release the next version).

To Kerm Martian,

The source to Doors XP looks good so far. It should work great, I can't wait for it in September.

(The source for it can be located at www.DoorsXP.tk)

P.S. Take the banner off of the DoorsXP site.

damn, I wish they made it for the 89 aswell. It almost makes me go get a 83+SE right away only because of that program.
The only thing holding me back though is the money, I donät have it right now , lol.

Ya, it looks pretty promising, but thats bad for me, I just began developing a Mac OS like shel, that is pretty much like Doors XP will be, maybe I'll just stop right now, but there is no page for it in the projects section on my website, but I still need a 83+ ASM programmer for Project Mini, check it out at the projects page of my web site.

I hate TI Connect. It won't send a lot of asm stuff, and is slow and inefficient like old ppl screwing.
