TI-Keyboard: Coming Soon?
Posted by Eric on 11 May 2002, 22:25 GMT

Several people have alerted me to an interesting new piece of hardware mentioned on Page 8 of the recent TI-Cares publication- a full-sized QWERTY keyboard that hooks up into your calculator's link port. A couple keyboard projects have been in the works lately by independent developers, but apparently TI has decided to make their own official version. More news to come? Hopefully...

That would be the most annoying thing in the world! Hey, on my old computer, to use the link port for my graphing calc thingermajigger, I had to take out the mouse! It was hard to operate the machine with only the keyboard, and especially without plug & play, so I had to restart it every time. BAD!

That's because lame computers have serial mice attached instead of PS/2, as well as only one serial port.

Yes, since so many computers can hook directly into a PS2. *eye roll*

A PS/2 was any of a specific line of computers made by IBM. They were the first computers to use a PS/2 interface for the mouse and keyboard. A PS/2 plug is the most common type of mouse/keyboard connection used in prefab computers today, followed closely by USB. For more info and pictures, check out http://members.tripod.com/~ps2page/ .

PS/2s are cool...I used to have a 486 model, it was just one of those systems you could fall in love with.

(((It's "your" not "you're)))

Actually, some of the new games sound fun, but not like I'd know anyway. I still like Duck Hunt for my Nintendo. Yeah. ©1984 I think.

PS/2 stands for Personal System/2.

Little-known fact: The IBM PS/2 E was the first computer to have a flat screen monitor. It is OLD. As in, 1991.

Then my computer is lame. I have one serial port and it only has 8½ prongs instead of 9. So I use a USB keyboard.
