TI-89/TI-92+ SDK 1.0 Released
Posted by Eric on 14 January 2002, 21:48 GMT

TI has released the first official (non-beta) version of their TI-89/TI-92+ SDK. Not much has been added since the beta versions, but it does allow all freeware applications to be loaded into the emulator. It's free, so all you developers out there...give it a whirl.

Well, the SDK program is maybe non-beta now, ut the SDK Developers guide is still beta. And that is not good. I want a good version with a GOOD hardware desc. with all the I/O ports and stuff. Look at this:

sdk8992pguide.pdf, page 51:
Table 3.1: Memory Map

ASIC
0x600000
See section 3.2.1. Vector Table 0x600000
0x7FFFFF

3.2.1. Vector Table
In order to modify the interrupt vectors, it is necessary to first enable writing to this region by accessing the system configuration register at 0x600000 (see Table 3.1).
So the are referring to eachother. Nice. Where are the LCD thingies and stuff?

You can find lots of information about the I/O ports of the TI-89/92+ at:

Can anyone explain this to me (from the licensing terms in the setup program):

1. License: For a period of thirty (30) days from the date you receive the beta release, TI grants LICENSEE a license to use the software program(s) and any supplied documentation ("Licensed Materials"),on single user computer, for the sole purpose of providing feedback to TI.

They must have forgotten to remove that clause from the beta version license.

One more reason to use TIGCC. ;-)

When I saw the comment the first time I was excited because the beta version wasn't very comfortable. But now I tested the new SDK and I'm disappointed. It is only a little bit comfortabler and there are more errors than before(i.e. I have at least to restart two times the SDK to load an app which I just compiled into the simulator).
They will have a lot of work before they can say it is good.

The code is not very good Windows code - it doesn't even handle correct font sizing - if you use "Large Fonts" for display, the thing throws a JVM null pointer exception any time to try to open a file from the Project Explorer. Also the initial splash screen is horked. This makes me very suspicious. TIGCC is a far better piece of coding. Any why is it using the MS JVM in any case? Strange.
