TI-89 Section Opened
Posted by Magnus on 17 November 2001, 13:48 GMT

We have now opened up the TI-89 section of the archives, representing another 2,500 files. More sections are on their way - check the File Archive Status information on our front page for up to date information about this.

Update (Magnus): Unix section opened.

Finally! We are getting there. Pretty soon the archives will be reopened and all the files I have been waiting to see since September will be on the site. Yay!

I wrote: http://www.ticalc.org/pub/89 and started browsing.. but when I try to see, for example, readme.txt inside a zip file I receive an error:
HTTP 403 Forbidden

just to let you know.

Great! I have a program that I'd like like to release for the TI-89, and though I know they aren't accepting new programs yet, I was wondering what category I should release it in since it has a windows component and a TI-89 component. The program, called Virtual Harddrive 89, allows you to browse a selection of the contents of your computer's hard drive with your TI-89. You can also rename, copy, move, and delete the files on your calculator and have the same changes made to the actual files on your computer.
If anyone would like to try it before I'm able to submit it to ticalc (and maybe suggest any changes), then ask me via email and I'll send it to you.

Yup, it works. It could have been done better by a more experianced programmer, but if nothing else, I hope this program will make programmers interested in ideas other than games. I love games of course, but I think that the ti-89 has the potential to behave more like a PDA... like how about a program to convert new emails to ebooks to be read on the 89? I might try that when I have more time...

That's pretty cool. I've already written a Perl script that downloads a web page, strips it of all HTML code, and compiles it into an eBook. I'm sure they would be very similar. However, I'd have to think of some way to read in all the new incoming mail... Oh well. Give me a month or two to learn C++ (better than I know it now, at least), then maybe I could do it.

Cool! Is this script available somewhere? I don't really know how to setup a perl script but I could probably figure it out. If it's not available anywhere, could you possibly send it to me? I would, of course, give you tons of credit for anything I used it for... that'd be great for getting some sites and articles on my calc that I could read when I don't have a computer available.

No, he's right. We are all going to be destroyed.
The Dark Lord will bring his demons from hell, and all will be tortured for an eternity. The prince of Demons, Demogorgon, will consume our flesh and bring us terror impossible to imagine. His minions will tear our bodies apart layer after layer and I wanna go first.
Don't mind me, I'm nuts :-|

OK, two things...

1. The game was HORRIBLE. It was an incredibly easy R-Type-style side scrolling shooting game. I beat it in about an hour.

2. I've ALREADY ported the introduction (which is basically what everyone knows about). It can be found here:
