TI-GRAPH LINK Software Updated
Posted by Nathan on 2 November 2000, 12:29 GMT

If you were yearning for version 2.x of the TI-GRAPH LINK software, your wishes have been answered! Texas Instruments has released the TI-GRAPH LINK software v2.0 (v2.1 for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus). I can't seem to tell what the difference was, but it doesn't say 'beta' on it, and anyhow, who can resist new versions of software? :)

In related news, Texas Instrument's Online Store now boats a new TI-GRAPH LINK cable! I think TI has probably managed to make everyone miserable this time. Now Macintosh users have a new, simple USB cable to use, but it's still $55; Windows users still don't get a USB cable, because it's not compatible with their OS. A good compromise leaves everyone unhappy, eh?

There seems to be a problem with the validity of this news article. TI's version 2.0 software is from the following dates:

Feb 2000 - v2.0 - TI-73
May 1999 - v2.0 - TI-82
Feb 2000 - v2.0 - TI-83+
Nov 1999 - v2.1 - TI-85
May 1999 - v2.0 - TI-86

So this isn't really news at all...Some of this "News" is a year old; the rest is about 9 months old...

You forgot the TI-89 version. 2.1 is from August 16, 2000. That's sort of new, at least compared to the other calculator versions. It is kind of odd to report this, though, because as far as I can tell, there are no new features or bug fixes.

Beta

Everything is in a new font. Or was that in v2.0? I don't know--I never downloaded it.

I agree. I bought my graph link all listen in the news article a few months ago. Little late on that article...

Unrelated note: It is now November. October has passed. The TI-89/TI-92 Plus Flash SDK is still not out yet. Surprising? No.

We all know this, but there is a release planned for less than 1 week from now. Someone (Mike, I believe) who happens to be on the SDK alpha team has said that it will be released very soon (barring an "act of God").

He didn't mention the SDK. He said "it" would come soon. For all we know, he could be talking about rain next Sunday. :-)

But that would classify as an act of god, right?

/me goes back and checks his last post.

No, I did say the beta SDK....

I would post the URL, but it is too long. Just go to TI's 89/92+ DG and look for my last post under the topic "One week"

Hey! This just occurred to me. TI will update their GraphLink but won't make our SDK! What's up with that?!? I thought the GraphLink was fine before they changed the font. They only delayed the SDK, now I have to wait some more!

Hey! Does anyone know if TI actually visits these message boards, or are they totoally cut off from the world and not care what their customers (maybe former customers, depending on how you feel) think?

There are a lot of people who likes Macintoshes. Just because you aren't one of them doesn't mean you're in the majority.

And you won't save money by passing over the $20 Windows link cable and buying the $55 Macintosh USB cable. Do the math--you'll be out an extra $35 dollars.

Why not just use the DOS link software? If you don't have a FAT boot partition you'll be booting from a floppy, but that still works.

I had that same problem. Win2k had a problem with it but after windows got screwed up (my fault, it warned me but I didn't listen ;-) ) I reinstalled and now it works, I did make it work before I reinstalled also, but I forgot what I did! If I remember I will post...

for that matter, pc's have this parallel port that's beautiful for any cheap external connections. (esp. amateur projects) build the parallel link for $5 (or $20 if you need to buy a soldering iron)
sure, you can't use ti's software with that, but who needs it?
