Since the Gregorian calendar didn't exist until 1585, wouldn't it be more logical to call the class of 2586 the first of the new millenium?

But lets not forget that the Pope is the one who calls the shots. If he says this is the new millenium, then IT IS THE NEW MILLENIUM.
