eXor Releases Pang v1.0
Posted by Nick on 23 April 2000, 03:30 GMT

Pang v1.0eXor has put out the initial release of quite the addictive piece of programming: Pang v1.0 for the TI-89. Thanks to Tim Buckingham for doing the port to English. This game features bouncing balls that you have to break apart before they crush you. It gets much more complex as the balls get smaller; you have to dodge an increasing amount, and it makes the game very fast-paced. Good work on both sides of the pond.

Update (Nick): Tim has created a port of Pang to the TI-92 Plus. It's untested, so it might crash. Load this on at your own risk. You can download it here.

Sorry to say this, but I didn't like the game very much as is, though I can say it must have been pretty tough to program it. Comments:

1-Graphics are too big, which is a big problem for focusing while playing, since the balls seem to come out of nowhere.
2-Speed, actually too much :) That, or I suck at pang (Hmm, guess)
3-Of course, needs new weapons, scenarios, etc. just like the PC version

Otherwise, it's nice. But the size of the sprites does bother me.

Why port it to the 92+, when it was originally a 92+ game? Download it from their webpage, it may be in french but it is stable.

Hey i have a few suggestions for the game:
1. Make it exactly like the arcade version (with the exception of colr which is replaced with greyscale)
2. Nice background and border textures
3. other weapons
4. Bosses maybe??
(If any of u have objections to my suggestions, please no flames, i dont like being insulted thank u :))

Wooooooo!!!!!!!! I can post now!!! For some reason internet explorer was always screwed up with ticalc.org and whenever I posted it had me retype my password multiple times and it didn't work. But now...

Cool game, by the way. Its only big problem is that it moves so quickly- you can barely see the balls coming down.
