Dimension-TI Reopens
Posted by Nick on 3 March 2000, 23:01 GMT

Dimension-TI is now back open for business. They experienced a three week long downtime due to their switching hosting companies. Apparently, their old hosting company got mad and switched Adam's account off without any prior notice. That's a Bad Thing(TM).
At any rate, it's back up now. @calc.org emails still don't work, so if you have anything to say about that, you can contact Adam at adam@dotcomma.org.
Also, Dim-TI says that they'll have some new features in the "not-so-distant future," so keep your eyes peeled. Look for a fantabulous new feature on our end soon, too. :)

I dont get why people go to Dim. The only things useful are the tutorials. The challenges are cool but they are rarely updated. Their archives are unbelievably out-of-date (their version of my game is a few years old.) In my mind, they are easily no. 3 in the big 3. I didn't really miss them...

can someone explain to me why ti-files is a good site? maybe if someone tells me, i can understand why it's in the top 3. from the way i see it, it just has irc, pud's, and some other stuff.

He said the Big 3, not the Top 3. :) And bigger isn't always better. But I see your point.

Both Dim and Ti-Files are in the Big 3 by default. They are the biggest and most frequently visited sites that actually worked. Other sites have tried (and new ones still do) to be all inclusive calculator hubs, but failed (remember TI-Chip, jokes on them.) So, even though Dim and Ti-files suck, they get to be in the top 3 for no good reason. In Ti-Files defense, (not a very good one, but a defense none the less) they do have the best links section I've seen.

Go to my webpage to see how it should be done :) j/k

I like your site..

Just a suggestion though.. I know it's too much trouble to test out each game/application, but if it is mentioned in the documentation, could you include a note about an ASM program's compatibility with different HW/AMS versions?

anything related to Texas instruments it's good , because it's good , and that's all . A man that knows texas instruments and takes time to make a web page it's a good man . How many web pages of TI89 are posted in yahoo geocities ? even the worst web page of TI it's a good web page because it was made by a texas instruments user . -ok , maybe the worst and most stupid coment of the day , but writen by a TI fan that worries about TI and its critical situation caused by those pirats that are managing the calc section of TI and wants to kick customers' a**-

So if I were to accually do the TI-86 section on my webpage* (which is kinda lame), it would automaticly make it good? I really doubt it.

I agree with Elcobbola. I personally had been checking back to Dimension regularly to see if it was back up...when it finally was i was realy disappointed. I searched for all TI-83+ Ion programs and came up with a total of 30 files; the newest of which being Yoshi.
Also, what are the top 3 sites? I know Dimension and ticalc, but what's the other one? TI-Files?

How ironic; at the time of my writing this, TiGalaxy apparently is also down. But when it goes back up, I recommend everyone visit it...it's a really good site. ;-)

Hmmm...very strange: when I try to visit TiGalaxy, I get a blank page, and "http://www.tigalaxy.com/index2.shtml" is in the url. Removing the /index2.shtml simply redirects me to that same address. Apparently your site is not friendly with Netscape, because luckily I also have Internet Explorer and the page opens just fine with that.

However, I still can't access Dim-TI with Internet Explorer or Netscape...

One reason I really like to use Dim-Ti is their archives. They don't have near as many files as ticalc, but the best feature is that you can have a screenshot of the program be right there on the page. Also, it showes a longer description, and a rating based on user-votes. These are some really nice features.
