RadioLinc Updated By Fission2 Labs
Posted by Nick on 18 February 2000, 02:41 GMT

Fission2 Labs has come out with something that ranks astonishingly high on my niftiness scale: an update to their successful RadioLinc. Totally updated schematics and a new PCB layout are among the improvements. According to Chris Bunting, it should work with any calculator. Congrats to Chris and the entire team at Fission2 for their great developments.

There used to be plans for a radio link which required no ICs floating around (I think the plans are still on the ticalc.org server). Has anyone actually built this one, it would be a lot more convienient to build these things if I could get all the parts at the local Radio Shack.

Yes, that is correct, but if you want to call it a radiolinc...those plans were not real...when built it produced a make-shift receiver, no transmitter...and no real use...we tried making them in the beginning, but the plans were a gimmick...no purpose for them.

What if you could set the reciever freq. with dip switches, and set the transmiter freq. through software. This would enable you to select which calc. you send to. Just an idea.

Actually the chip use (nRF0433) is one frequency only...

Maybe you can make another model, a pro or plus version, you could also change the design.

Yeah, they could make a pro or plus version where you could set the freqs, you could get the stuff out of a garage door opener... but it would probably send the price way up there....

Is there a way to possibly give your calc a name, and when you activate the radiolinc, you get a list of all available calcs to connect to...?
