DoorsOS II v0.93 Released!
Posted by Eric on 10 February 2000, 07:36 GMT

Xavier Vassor and the Doors Team have released DoorsOS II v0.93 for the TI-89 and TI-92+. This new version breaks the infamous 8KB limit for programs on AMS 2.03. As usual, DoorsOS can be found in our archives. Once again, congratulations to the Doors Team!

I've gone through the Flash upgrade, and couldn't install the old Doors, so I downgraded and restored everything. Now that Doors v.93 is out, is it compatible with all the asm/basic games for the TI-89 HW2?

This question has already been answered at least twice. DoorsOS still doesn't work on HW2 calculators, but the Doors Team is working on it.

I keep reading all this about HW1 and HW2. I know that means hardware version, and before I upgrade to AMS 2.03 and DoorsOS II 0.93, how am I able to tell which HW version I have? I go into about and it only says "TI-89 Advanced Mathematics Software Version 1.00, 07/27/1998" and then some ID numbers.

You have HW 1. First of all because ROM 1.00 only works on HW 1 calculators. The second thing is that HW 1 calculators don't list the HW version. For example on the TI-92 Plus, the About screen says:

TI-92 Plus Hardware Version 2.00
Advanced Mathematics Software
Version 2.03, 12/08/1999

I've been having probs with the Doors Explorer. Almost every time I do something with the Explorer, then go back a folder, the shell freezes with nothing in the file section. What could the prob be. I have a 92+ with HW1 and AMS 2.03.

I have had the same problem. I haven't had it as much since upgrading to AMS 2.03, but I still do once in a while. I don't know why it happens though.

just a question about hw2:

has anybody gotten tetris to run on it? My friend's calc can run it but it shows a bunch of crap on the screen like text and blurrish graphics that are VERY slow. I used doorsosII .92 and tetris for doorsosII. Should I remove those grayscale libraries from the calculator?

Also, can anybody list games that work for the hw2? I don't have direct access to my friend's calc and I don't want to waste a lot of time doing repetitive crap.

a list of ams 2.03 compatible progs???
no1

dos anyone know a site (i'm pretty sure one exists) that has a list of what asm programs are and aren't compatible w/ ams 2.03 (on a HW1 89)?

btw, no1 means no one, not #1. ppl often don't realize that.

My question to you is, why are you HW1 people using AMS 2.03 at all?

You can easily downgrade and get all the games you want. Just e-mail TI.
2.03 has that annoying 8k limit...
You can't even use all of the 700k. Unless you go out and spend $300 on the TI-SDK and re-make all the games to flash-apps... which is pretty impossible.
2.03 greyscale doesn't work with 1.00.
How much do you really need flash-apps?

So what I am basically asking is,

1) Why did you download AMS 2.03 in the first place, and
2) Why do you still have it?

There is one main reason I upgraded, and kept the upgrade. That reason is the new ability to keep your archives after a reset. Now I don't have to worry about losing anything when my calc crashes. I know that there was a archive utility or something out there that would allow you to do this in AMS 1.0x but it doesn't work on my 89, so I am keeping AMS 2.03. This one feature is definitely worth the other losses.

Why would it crash? The calc is usually stable enough not to... unless you run games. But you're on AMS 2.03, what games?

What is that supposed to mean. There are a lot of games out there for AMS 2.0x. I have 12 on my calc right now. And no, I don't just use my calculator for games, but they come in handy when you aren't doing anything else in class. For example, if you finish a test early and there is no more work to do. I am not one of those people that play games when there is something being taught

Tezxas works with AMS 2.03, HW1. So, there are potentialy 8000 games!

I will soon make Tezxas home page with 200 best ZX Spectrum games ported to TI89 and TI92+

I should really try Tezxas... I haven't yet (I'm too lazy to d/l). It works with 1.00 as well right?

I'm not saying you're one of those people, and I didn't know there were so many games. I thought there were only like 4. Oh well, I feel stupid.

I use the calc a lot for math too... it's just so amazingly better than my 83 I don't really need games, just playing with the math functions is fun.

Hey, this is, by far, the best site I have ever seen about TI89 ! It leave ticalc.org miles away ! The tutorials are very detailed, the programs are incredibles...

And this site is very instructive, too. By reading it, I learnt I personally knew around 20 programming languages : GREAT !!!

Since the site frequentation is going pass ticalc.org's very soon, you should all become members while it's still possible ! You won't regret it !
