New Flash Application for the TI-89
Posted by Eric on 15 December 1999, 00:58 GMT

Texas Instruments has released a new Flash application for the TI-89. The new software, entitled "Statistics with List Editor," includes inferential statistics, a list editor, and other advanced statistics features. The application is free, and more information can be found at http://www.ti.com/calc/flash/89.htm.

Hi. This is my first post. HELP!!

okay.. here's the story: I was downgrading my ti89 from rom 2.03 -> 1.05 tonight when I accidentally hit cancel.. oops.. well, I go to the ti site to find out what to do because my calculator does not want to go anywhere until this downgrade is finished. problem is that ti took down the mile-long page with instructions on what to do..

so, here's the question: Does anyone remember what I'm supposed to do?

here's what i tried: take out 1 battery. [turn calc on and screen says "press I to continue"
take out all batteries.. same thing
take out all batteries and the little round one.. same thing.

HELP!! please. minimus

The same thing happened to me, except I didn't hit cancel, I just got a link error. But anyway, if you were transfering the old ROM from a computer all you have to do is restart the transfer process and press "I" (on the calc when it says) to receive the ROM.
The reason the calculator says "Press I to continue" is because it has either no ROM or an incomplete ROM and you need to finish sending it to (flashing) your calculator.

That happens to me also. I would like to install the stat app bbut I can't even get AMS 2.03 to install. I start to install it and the calculator reports "waiting to recieve". And the about a few seconds later I get a transmission error. I know my cable was connected securely because I tested it with a getscreen before the instalation. This has happened about three times. Can someone please help?

The same thing happened to me when i was downgrading my friend's calc, and the cable was accedently pulled. When i took out a battery, it says press i to continue.

This took me a while, but luckily i had a copy of 1.00 on my comp, and all i had to do was to press the i button and while it's wating, send it from a computer. You might have to try sevrel times, as this screen's link protocol is not too stable...

Didn't the TI website say that this app would allow the TI-89 to be compatible with the TI-83 and 83+? I would assume that this means that it can send and recieve lists with each other, but I can't get it to do so. Can anybody confirm this?

Dude, you were on crack while reading that... TI never stated such a thing, they just said that it would be comparable to the TI-83(+) Stat functions.

It does in fact say "compatible" on their site. It may not be correct wording, however, but it does say that.

Is it only me, or does this (http://lesti92.ctw.cc/beta.html) link not work?

Okay, people.
For the benefit of 92+ owners out there, I'd like to point out that the last several 89 articles should have read "89/92+". AMS2.03 and the stat/list editor have also been released for the 92+...TICALC.ORG has just neglected to report this for some reason.

I was always wondering why the 89 didn't have all those stat functions from the 83... you know... everything that begins with z

How about the normalpdf() and normalcdf() functions? That's all we really used last year in Stats.

Yeah, I know that. I was just making the point that last year, my super-advanced TI-89 couldn't do half of the statistical stuff that my 83 counterparts could. I like it now, even though I don't have a statistics course here at college. :)

I sold my 83 to my brother and bought an 89, and now I've downloaded the statistics app. We had a suprise test in Statistics, and now I really like those PoissCDF()/PDF() and BinomCDF()/PDF() functions. Hehe.
