The results for 2011's Program of the Year are now available! This was an exciting contest. Congratulations to all POTY winners and featured program authors. You're all winners in my book.

Wow, the first time I win a POTY I win two of them! A sincere thank you to all the people who voted for my projects, and congratulations to all the other winners (and a tip of the hat to the other contestants).

I feel like some of the programs were cool, but shouldn't of necessarily have won, because they really don't change anything. Such as Gossamer (no offense), people aren't going suddenly start using a Ti 84 to start browsing the web.

Maybe not, but it's definitely a hardware/software breakthrough never before seen on a calculator, you can't deny that. Thou, you'd be surprised, there are some oddballs around here who do use it regularly for web browsing ;-)

On a second note, if it got the majority votes, that means in general it was the most popular choice, so yeah, it fairly won and deserved it for that reason.

Vague agreement is vague? What do you agree with, how, and why? I'm just curious ;)

Thanks for that, Ashbad. Let me also point out that the awards are not for "most useful program of 2011" or "most fun program of 2011" or even for "most technologically impressive program of 2011". It is for the Program(s) of the Year, and whatever that may mean to the members of the community. In this case, the votes show that technological challenge and originality was more important to the community than strict usefulness, which I think is very intelligent given the general mockery that the usefulness of calculator programming even for games meets.
