Complete FTW! Technically it's not really a program of THIS year, but it finally got the feature it deserves and IMHO really should be POTY.

Darn this is gonna be tough to choose, as I haven't tried any of them yet. A bunch of them looks great too.

Woah that's a name I haven't seen in a LONG while. I remember you were working on ChASM2 years ago. Unlike your profile bio says, the community is far from dying, though, if you notice the increase in new programs being released in the past two years. The 68K scene is still kinda slow, though.

Yeah that is the same me. I have been working on Chasm2, but the community wasn't to fond of me working on it even though the original programmer gave me the rights to work on it. But I came back because I am finishing school. Bought the new Ti-Nspire, and kinda upset on how that was made. But I plan on working on some new programs sooner than later. Also thinking about making a new programming group for my down time.

Actually I think in the current TI community state, it might be best to not split it more by adding another forum to it. Some members start their own blog and put a calc forum on them now. I would probably join an already existing team if I was you, although the two most active forums around aren't really programming teams but rather development forums.

And yeah I agree about the Nspire, it's so locked down. X.x Now we need to fight against TI like jailbreakers do with Apple and Sony. Fortunately, ExtendeD and a few others came up with Ndless and other tools as solution and eventually it may be possible to use Ndless on newer OSes.

Do you have the black TI-Nspire? If not, you can install OS 1.1 through 2.1 on it. 1.1 or 1.7 is required for Ndless, but use 1.1 only if you want more free memory. It sucks otherwise.
Click the link attached below my name for some OS links (hosted on TI server).

If you have a black TI-Nspire, then you will need to buy a clickpad keypad somewhere online, I'm afraid, or wait until Ndless 2.0 comes out.

On the other note....the community may seem like to be dying, but the programs and games are still coming....I honestly believe that texas instruments are screwing with any of us with the nspire calculators.....I believe that they are giving us as a community as a chance of bring it back with a bang.....thats what i believe. They gave us this obsticle which will give us more options for calcs

Yeah the Nspire is really limited in terms of programmabilities. That's unless you install Ndless but you don't know how much the community fought in the recent years to be able to run ASM on this machine. On Omnimaga forums, some people have been considering switching to Casio Prizm development when it comes out (its BASIC language has most rudimentary game commands available like Getkey and allow the usage of colors, and there is supposedly a SDK coming out in early 2011). besides those people, most people on forums still seem to mostly code for z80 calculators rather than the Nspire.

That is true indeed but the NSpire will never be as popualr as Z80 calcs, even if Texas makes Ndless an included program in the next versions.

I really though believe that they are going to have the programming back in with this calculator, but they are going on a different route.....sooner than later Nspire will be popular...I mean come on look at the other calcs that that we had to work for. On the other note though....wondering something....do you believe that for nspire they may come out with other available emulator keypads for like 85, 86, or any of the other calcs? In a way making this the universal calcs

I'm not sure about those calcs. TI already quit providing the 84+ keypad with the Nspire and it's often out of stock online. I wouldn't be surprised if they were phasing it out. They already phased out the 84+SE in certain countries.

And I believe some new programming functions will get added, but they'll try to do everything to make sure it's as hard as possible to create any game in TI-Nspire BASIC. It was easy in z80 BASIC, even though it was very slow, but on the Nspire there isn't even a getkey command.

They stopped providing the 84+ emulator? thats probably why its taking so long for them to mail mine to me? damn i better be getting it.

I don't know if they stopped providing them online, I think you can still get the keypad if you buy the calc, but I don't know if they will provide it for the entire time the Nspire will be for sale.

As for 84+ emulation, remember it's not very perfect. Unless you install a patch, MirageOS will crash, the Gameboy emulator will not run at all, same for some other old ASM programs that use undocumented instructions. Doors CS 7 will work fine with no patch, though. Not sure about Ion/Crunchy.

On an side note, Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator v1.00000069 has been ported to the Nspire not so long ago. With that game, you no longer need Ndless anymore!
