Calculator Saves Woman's Life
Posted by Astrid & Travis on 7 July 2010, 22:13 GMT

It's not exactly easy to get at the article text, but the Today show has an article on a Tennessee college student whose calculator stopped a bullet for her. She encountered an armed mugger who grabbed her cell phone and fired at her. Fortunately, the shot missed, instead hitting her purse. Her TI-83 Plus (along with some other items in her purse) took the hit and stopped the bullet, saving her life.

I wish this happened 2 years ago. Then I would have had an excuse on why I carried my calculator around with me. :D

Want to know something really ironic? It did happen two years ago, but they just posted it now. :) I bet you wish you had watched the Today Show.

a) Done
b) RAM cleared
c) ERR:ARGUMENT
d) Oh s^&*t!

ERR: DIVIDE BY ZERO

Otherwise, the Flash memory might have corrupted and it simply displayed THE GAME.

Well, she's lucky to be alive. But I took a look at that photo of that calculator. It's completely destroyed. Happily it isn't hers, she just borrowed it from a friend :P. (Now that friend is gonna feel like he/she's a hero).

Yep, according to the article, her friend said she didn't have to buy a new calculator to replace it.

If a calculator saved my life, I would join ticalc.org.
