Earth Mission 68k; Z80 Assembly IDE Released
Posted by Michael on 30 April 2007, 05:40 GMT

[Earth Mission 68k]Vincent Corfdir has released a new game for the 89 called Earth Mission 68k. This action-packed platform game features great graphics as you attempt to save the world, plus a nice lisez-moi file (Despite the French, it should be self-explanatory).

But now you are wondering how you are going to satisfy your burning desire to port this wonderful game to the 83+ when all you have to work with is an old computer running Linux. Wonder no more, for Donald Straney has created Z80 Assembly IDE, a new integrated development environment for creating Z80 programs on Linux systems, complete with tabbed windows and macro support. Work is still in progress to add more features.

Good job Vincent Corfdir. I think I will dig out my TI Graphlink and download this.

Keep up the good work, Donald!

Thanks for developing for Linux. I will add a link from the LPG to your application.

Although I have no current plans to develop for Z80 ASM (I prefer 68000 C), it's great to see more focus on non-Windows platforms these days. Thanks!

I'm a bit confused. This game can be ported to the 83+? And what is the importance of the Z80 Assembly IDE?
Sorry, I'm kinda a newb at this still.

No, it can't without a full rewrite, that comment was just yet another pointless port request which has no chance at all to get satisfied.

> And what is the importance of the Z80 Assembly IDE?

It lets you develop Z80 assembly programs for the calculators on a GNU/Linux machine in an easy-to-use environment.

Alright, that's what I thought, thanks.
Z80 programming is pretty complicated, but I'm still catching on. I've finally got a strong hold on Basic using XLib, but I don't understand about the dim function.

Really nice game! I do however think the source code should be released.

As proven by history this author has been known not to release the source code to his games. It looks like he uses a seriously great engine though for his games because I love them!

good to see you're still making awesome games vincent. I thought you might be gone considering oragestudio's website is still unfinished. looks awesome! i'll try and download it soon.

Also, glad to see the IDE! maybe I'll get into some z80 asm for a bit (again). I'll dl that when i get home to my comfy linux-zone.

Great game - excellent graphics!

Also, your IDE is pretty sweet, burntfuse. I can't wait for more updates and improvements in the future. :)

Can someone port it to my abacus? That should be just as easy! ;-)

I hope you get my point... More seriously: First of all, the 68k and Z80 calculators are completely different machines, making a "port" unrealistic, "rewrite" would be more accurate. And secondly, the Z80 calculators lack some ressources like screen size or RAM which make it even less likely to succeed.

Ya, this is a pretty fun game, but I was wondering, can you attack? At the end of the first level it says "destroy the satallite" but I don't know how to do anything destructive. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out, because this is a pretty good game other than that.
