TinyCarZ Released
Posted by Michael on 21 November 2006, 03:50 GMT

[Tiny CarZ] In slightly old news, Tiny CarZ for the 83+ was released a month ago. Similar to the featured Tiny Car from 2004 (and by the same author), Tiny CarZ adds link play and an AI.

hmm I was sure this game was released 2 years ago, I remember playing it back then O.o, awesome job!

on a offtopic note I noticed TI-83+ BASIC games section has been split into sub directories (race, RPG, puzzle, etc) and some files were alerady moved. I was wondering if it was official because it would be much better like this. The amount of time it took to load the huge BASIC game page ticked me off to not even bother find any games here, and it sucks because out of the 4000 files here there is almost one hundred that must be good at least, and (not to start another browser war) this should give people less reasons to use IE if the directories are split, as TI-83+ BASIC games section always seemed to load faster in IE

I agree. That page took way too much time to load.

These directories will help many find the few gems among all the garbage(which I contributed to), and more importantly, not get frusturated by the long page load. Also, super-cool improvement on Tiny Car! Link play is a blast during fifth period.

The BASIC games listing does load faster in IE, which in my experience is much faster at laying out really large tables.

And yes, this is (or will be) official. It'll take some time though, as moving over 3,000 files takes more time than one would expect.

It's really not all that bad. I only have a 52K connection and I've seen worse.

As for IE, if people want to torture themselves by using 3rd party software, that's their problem, they should stop complaining or accept IE as it is -- why do you think it's a free download???

um, maybe you like to have a different browser for each type of file but I like to have one that will open almost all file types correctly...and most java applets don't run in firefox...

And if that's not enough, when you tap alt-f4 to close a window, all the pages close!!!

Well, now, I haven't had any problems with java applets running in Firefox, and I've been using it since v0.6

As for all the pages closing with alt-F4, I couldn't care less. Normally I only have 1 browser window open anyway, with a bunch of tabs in it (that's the power of tabs, something Microsoft took darn long to catch onto).

That's the problem!!! When you close the window, ALL THE TABS CLOSE!!! MSIE lets me disable the tabs and use it as a normal window.

As for the java, check out http://members.cox.net/FBLA/index.html -- it's a old page I made for school...you'll see what I mean if you try it in both IE and Firefox...it doesn't look quite right...

And another site (remove spaces): http://www.spotsylvania.k12.va.us /mhs/default2.asp
The graphics allignment is WAY off.

My bad, wrong URL for the first one...this is right:

I don't have enough webspace for the whole thing but the homepage shows the problem...

IE is the ONLY browser worth anything. IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!! None of the others work as universal as IE.

btw, my computer decided to update itself to IE7, and I like the layout of IE6 better. I hate having the address bar above the menu bar.

As for the site, I liked it with all the programs on one page, then I could ctrl+F to look for what I wanted. How am I supposed to know what sub-sub-category a program should be in? In my opinion, most sites mis-categorize them anyway.

%windir%\ServicePackFiles\ i386\iexplore.exe

Internet Explorer 6 interface with the Internet Explorer 7 renderer.

I wouldn't recommend running this way, though, as it won't be updated to fix bugs or exploits.

I'd be happy if they made it so I can rearrange the bars like the old one...

I might actually boot up my win98 box just so I can put this on my calc!
While I'm at it, I think I'll complain about the poll...IT SUCKS
We've had it for two months, and even when it was new it wasn't a good poll. PLEASE put something new up!

No, really....

Tiny CarZ: A pretty good game, in my opinion.

The survey: I remember the good old days when the survey was changed almost every week (hint, hint).

Yep, I played this game
(and a lot of other ti83+ games)
Well, it is clearly the best ti83+ game ever.

But actually, I still use a ti83+, but this game is indeed a few years to late to get the commotion it deserves.

I, myself, like The Verdante Forest, but no one game deserves the title of "Best 83+ Game Ever".. people have different tastes.. that's why there's more than one game..

You make an excellent point. Games can only be the best in their genre. There is no "best game ever". Just like in the video game world. You can't compare games of the same genre, it's like comparing apples and oranges. But i have to say, Gemini is the best FPS on the z80 family. (ive seen better stuff on 68ks)

I have, as a matter of fact. Come to think of it, Gemini IS rather good. . .I still like Phoenix, though :-)
