Happy Pi Day!
Posted by Michael on 14 March 2006, 14:52 GMT

Once again, it is the world's most popular holiday, Pi Day! The entire ticalc.org staff wishes you a Happy Pi Day! Remember at 1:59:26 PM to shout "Pi!". Just like last year, in #tcpa on IRC we will be having coordinated pi shouts at every :59:26 each hour. I encourage you to join in on the fun.

There has also been a link floating around the internet for a few months, http://pi.ytmnd.com. I especially enjoy singing along.

Happy PI Day . . .

I know there used to be a program for the 83+/83+ that would multitask the OS and display PI in the background of the screen while using the calc. Does anyone know what happened to it? It seems to have dissapeared. I used to have it but I can't find it now. My math teacher would probably like it too.

Here's the link from a google search "piback site:ticalc.org"

It was a great program.

I have to claim responsibility for it; I didn't exactly understand what I was doing when I wrote it, and it had a habit of corrupting memory that it wasn't meant to. Because of this, it would crash the calculator (especially badly on non-black TI-83 plusses, I understand).

I requested that it was removed (as well as a bunch of other buggy, broken programs) for that reason. I do not have a copy of it, though I daresay someone else might.

I strongly recommend that you do not use it, though.

:D I remember seeing that when it was first accepted and thinking it was pretty 1337.

I never had that problem, I just plain misplaced the file. I think Mario was responsible for my 83+SE's flash mem becoming terminally corrupt. Anyway, TI was nice about replacing it for me so, I now have a 83+SE and 84+SE that work.

Congrats....you picked a username that has pi in it. But why the radical pi? sqrt(pi) isn't special in any way....

It's more of a translation of the word Radical meaning odd, crazy, eccentric into Radical meaning square root. It sums me up perfectly...

We got nothing. However, I was allowed to do a dramatic recitation of pi to the 100th digit.
