Hawk v1.00 Released
Posted by Michael on 26 August 2005, 22:58 GMT

[Hawk]Hawk is a new shoot-em-up for the 68k calculators (89, 89 Titanium, 92+, and V200). Based upon "Star Hawk", Hawk has a simple and environmentally compelling reason to play: The goal is to eliminate all the enemies polluting your planet, accomplished through the usage of your various weapons. The screenshot pretty much explains the game.

Cool! I'll try it as soon as I have recharged my batteries.

Another horizontal shooter. How about some original games? Haven't we had enough R-Type clones?

There's never enough.
Why don't you make yourself some original game ?

i agree, people with those programming skills should put them to use making an original game. don't get me wrong, it's a great game but i'm sick of side scrolling space shooters

It isn't totally the same - in this one you're helping the environment! ;-)

So it's "Captain Planet meets Gradius"

Don't get me wrong - it's probably a good game, and the graphics do look impressive (I'd play it if I actually had a 68k TI calculator). I complain about the state of gaming in general. Most of the games I really enjoy playing are over ten years old. It just seems that not a great deal of innovation has happened in gaming in the last decade.

You can never have enough horizontal shooters. My only issue is that there aren't enough enemies. The screen ought to be filled with them. There also ought to be more cannons on the sides. Still, it's not bad...

I saw this file yesterday and was wondering when it would be featured. The graphics look great, though the extensive grayscale background is slightly distracting, perhaps even slightly nausiating.

I tried it. But it's a bit short... 64ko for only 15 minutes to spare =/

I think most of the space is used to store the graphics...

I actually saw that auction on eBay. Hmmmm -- let's see -- selling free software along with an illegal ROM image; that person is not too bright. Hopefully, no one placed a bid.

I was looking for a spot where I could notify potential bidders that this was illegal and wrong. (The ROM being illegal and the free program being wrong, unless VTI is under a license that makes it illegal).

Anyone else have relatives in the New Orleans/Mississippi/etc. area that were affected by Katrina?

No, but the devestation is extensive, the response slow, and the suffering of the people great. We're the world's leading nation??!!!??!?!?

Yeah, I live between Pass Christian and Long Beach. These two cities were also extensively damaged. The worst area affected by Hurricane Katrina is Hancock County. 80% of the county was under water. To this day (12/22/05) all you hear on the news is stuff related to Hurriane Katrina.

This game is pretty sweet however whenever I play I have to increase the contrast. I don't know if anybody else has this problem though.
