Corridor 99 Demo Released
Posted by Michael on 9 April 2005, 08:00 GMT

[Corridor 99]Jeff Wilcox has released Corridor 99 v1.1, a first-person shooter that seems to have a plot and structure similar to that of Doom (at least to me). Corridor 99, for the 89/92+/V200, uses the FAT-Engine that has powered so many of these amazing 3-D games. Please note that Corridor has not been tested on a TI-89 Titanium and that it is labelled as a "demo version."

Awesome. I'm glad to see so many 3D games coming out for this series of calculators. I remember back in the day when games like this were just dreams...

If I knew the first thing about the trigonometry and stuff required to draw this stuff, I'd attempt it myself.

You'd find that the hardware available on the Z80 calculators is much more limited than on the 68K. Raycasting has been attempted on the Z80, but it's a significantly more difficult task.

Try TI-Doom. It's french, but it works for mirage OS on an 83+. I don't know about the 84.

There's an 83+ 3D FPS called GEMINI. Takes up the entire RAM space though.

Since only one other comment has been posted, hopefully this should be seen... but it's just FYI. Jeff has said that the full game is 40 levels long, and the rest of the levels will be released in 10 level packs like this one.

Also, people have said that the current version won't directly run on the Titanium, however, it can be run after being patched with GhostBuster,
http://www.tigen.org/kevin. kofler/ti89prog/ghostb.zip . (no spaces)

But, another version should probably be released shortly, with Titanium compatibility without further patching.

Oh yeah... forgot to say the amount of memory it needs is incredible. I had EVERYTHING archived on my calc except for an 8k savegame (~189k free), and that wasn't enough. Basically, if you have any TSRs installed, any unarchived files... FlashApps installed (and not hidden by the FlashApp hider)... possibly if you have a kernel installed... that probably isn't enough free RAM ;-)

you need to have the game archived to play.

I have an 89ti and I patched this game with ghostbuster. I tried to run it and got an error message saying I don't have enough RAM. I have 187000 bytes. How many do you need?

Yes, I've got a V200. And when I run corridor() it says Not enough RAM.
I've no RAM used on my calculator. I just rebooted it.
???

By the way. I never know how to reboot my calc. It takes me lots of time. on+left+right+2nd doesn't work. And when I have a bug it rarely reboots when I remove my batteries. Can someone tell me how I need to do it?

The 92+/V200 don't use 2nd+left+right+on. They use something like Hand+2nd+on or something (I don't know for sure, but I do know what does know: Your manual).

Archive EVERYTHING. If that isn't enough, hide EVERY Flash App with the Flash App hider. If it isn't enough, remove EVERY TSR with the TSR remover. If THAT isn't enough, you'll have to uninstall EVERY kernel. If that isn't enough, reset the memory using the appropriate emergency combination (2ND+HAND+ON for the 92+/V200). Hope this helps.

You need a lot of RAM. Delete all FlashApps (they all need some amount of RAM as well as FlashROM) and uninstall any kernels or TSRs you may have running.

I reset both my RAM and my FlashROM and I still didn't have enough memory. What do I do?

ON+LEFT+RIGHT+2ND or 2ND+HAND+ON.

I deleted everything on my calc, ROM and RAM and it still didn't run. (I patched it with GB and it didn't do anything.

You probably patched the wrong file, you need to patch the PPG, not the launcher.

When I patched the ppg, I called it c99. When I typed "c99()" into the home screen, it didn't run. Do I run this or the "corridor" ASM file?

Solved my own problem. I don't know what I was thinking when I first tried to open it. I wasn't patient enough to let the program load. I thought my calculator froze up so I did the 2nd+On+Left+Right maneuver. Turns out, it just needed time to load.

I don't suppose your "crash" was a blank black bar? That's what I get.

Yeah, did get that bar once. I reset the RAM (2nd+left+right+on) and went to run it again. This time it said busy in the bottom right corner for a long time, but it did load.
Note: You must run the patched ppg file (ppg file is c99exe) not the game launcher(corridor).

You have to have a launcher program, or a kernel or shell that can run it.

Is it possible it needs an older AMS to run? (I heard AMS 2.07 and higher require more system RAM than older versions.)
