TI Releases AMS 3.01
Posted by Michael on 16 February 2005, 13:46 GMT

TI has released AMS 3.01. You can find versions for the 89 Titanium and the Voyage 200. Version 3.01 "optimizes battery performance for use with the TI-89 Titanium Presentation Link Adapter." There is no other information available.

Kevin Kofler has updated his HW3Patch utility for compatibility with this new release.

How to reinstall AMS 2.09 ???
Alexey Guskov Account Info

Dear all.

Could you say, is it possible to extpand the archive memory fo AMS 3.01 (something like Xpand) ? If not, how to return AMS 2.09 ? I have v200 and TI Connect 1.6 and when I tried to send AMS 2.09 file to v200 I have error:

"Cannot transfer. The file format is invalid (8C020013)"

Best regards.

Ask ExtendeD (kindly) to update Xpand.

PS: I just sent him an e-mail, so he should be aware of the need for an update.

Xpand is now available at http://www.tigen.org (click "Web Page" above). (It should be pending here at ticalc.org, but you can get it at Ti-Gen right now.)

"Pending" here appears to be taking awhile. They haven't posted any new programs since mid-January and I uploaded the next version of Timerize 68k in early-January and it hasn't appeared yet.

The only listed benefit of installing AMS 3.01 over AMS 3.00 for the 89 Titanium is optimized battery performance when used in conjunction with an accessory I don't have. What other reason would I have to want it?

The listed benefits of AMS 3.01 for the Voyage 200 are identical to the list that appears for the TI89/TI92+ AMS 2.09. What is actually different?

They did change the USB link routines, so maybe there are improvements for other USB-intensive tasks (such as playing my Backgammon over USB link ;-) ) as well. I don't know for sure though.

As for the V200, it is a 2.09->3.01 update, so it also gets the things which were new in AMS 3.00:
* ASM size limit raised from 24 KB to 64 KB
* You can now delete an archived file without unarchiving it first. (It asks you "Are you sure?" before deleting it.)
* unfortunately, less optimized code, making it take up another 64 KB Flash sector and thus reducing your archive by 64 KB (you still get one more sector than the Titanium with its USB and [alpha] handling stuff though)

I'm glad that those changes were made for the Voyage 200! (Except the 3rd one! :()
