TI Connect v1.6 Released
Posted by Michael on 24 January 2005, 03:35 GMT

TI has finally released version 1.6 of their TI Connect linking software. Most of the changes appear to be nonvisible to the user. Some notable idiosyncrasies remain, such as the warning that firewalls may interfere with linking.

Those of you with a 84+/84+ SE will also want to download the newly released v2.30 operating system.

I still think TI needs to include the program editor and as you can see, the OS seems to be really slow. So I don't think "Way to go TI" is an appropriate message. Maybe its just me.

Or maybe there's a hint of sarcasm in Coolv's tone that can't be detected in txt format.

Argh! How come they STILL haven't added program editing to the new Windows version of TI-Connect? I'm trying to update Personal Address Book, and the core program has exceeded the size limit on the old TI-Graph Link editor. This sucks...

Then send it to your calculator and edit it there...

but that takes a LOOONG time. It can be done, but it's way easier to program on the computer.

I don't think so... All of my programs on this site have been made and edited directly on the calculator.. no computer was used for any one...(Well, except for the Acelgoyobis level, but that doesn't count)

(: :)

You try editing a 27KB program with nearly 2000 lines of code on-calc, and you'll want to do it on a regular computer for the rest of your life.

One of mine was 24k at one time, but I shortened it to around 19k while editing on-calc... It is not that hard.. just tedious. I actually prefer on-calc, but then again... I like to be different =)

Yes.. let's all gasp at my DIFFERENCY..(If that's even a word...) MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Seriously, though. If you started learning while editing on calculator, you'd prefer it, too. I just think it's easier to move my fingers than to move the mouse to the buttons.. way faster. I have the calculator button layout memorized by heart. I can type up a 2k program in around 5 to 10 min now :)

(: I'm a very strange person... FEAR ME!!! :)

Actually I do all the code writing/editing manually in Notepad (And with a maximum measured typing speed of 136WPM, it actually goes quite fast), then I paste it into TI-Graph Link and save it as a program file. Now the code for the core program of Personal Address Book 7.1 is stuck in a text file because the program is too big for TI-Graph Link to handle. This is why I hope TI-Connect will soon allow program editing, so I can create TI-86 programs without worrying about this stupid limit.

Just copy and paste like the first 24k and edit it.. then go back and edit the other 3k... After this, send it to Graphlink and edit the whole file together...

(: :)

Yup, that's the way to do it... but you shouldn't have to, it's still a pain.

But this has an old version of Tokens89 with a few bugs compiled in, so you'd need to get the latest Tokens89 OCX source code and recompile. (You'll need VB to recompile.)

At www.tiedit.tk, there is an editor using the actual OCX for Tokens89, so you just need to install the lates Tokens89 OCX to fix the bugs there (the version it comes bundled with is old as well).
