New TI Online Store
Posted by Michael on 15 January 2005, 03:47 GMT

TI has redesigned their Online Store. Aside from a further invasion of the hideous orange color scheme, the new store is finally a true store. That is, all free apps have been removed and moved to the main site. Commercial flash applications remain along with accessories and other TI products. Registration is still required in order to download the free flash applications. You can find app links from the "My Pickup Window" link in the upper right corner of every education.ti.com page.

For some reason, the new store looks like it's half-finished. I thought that at first it was still under construction, but after a few days it hasn't changed; perhaps it's just me. I also don't like how we still have to register to download free applications. However, at least you can now link to an item in the store without being intercepted by that old "Select your country" page.

You're not alone in thinking it's half finished, I ran across an <a> tag a few days ago, displayed on one of the pages as html code...it's very incomplete.

I prefer to call it "Halloween" colors, personally.

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /OA_HTML/ibeCCtpSctDspRte.jsp.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

What the heck?

I take offense to your blatant disrespect for my school's colors (click link to see my site). Personally, I think TI finally got someone with good taste to redesign their site, and that person is obviously a Princetonian.

Can't they figure out your country from your IP adress? My site's counter (statcounter.com) can tell me the exact city!

Not always particularly accurate. A number of things can affect it. (Various kinds of routers, proxies, caches, etc.)

Don't they also have programs that can change your IP address??? I had heard of these before, but I have never actually seen one...

Just what the topic said...the TI store now has no more useless junk like free apps and that stupid "select your country" thing. YES! before this, though, the store's layout looked a little better.

They still have a "select your area" thingy. And now it's a dropdown! That means you have to click twice instead of once!

For some strange reason, when I follow the "Online Store" link in the article, it leads to a site with a listing of all the TI trademarks...I'm confused...
