Bomber Dude Released for 68k Calcs
Posted by Michael on 28 November 2004, 15:14 GMT

[Bomber Dude v0.95]Jean-François Geyelin has released his latest masterpiece: Bomber Dude for the 89, 89 Titanium, 92+, and Voyage 200. The goal is to drop bombs and destroy enemies, but there are a myriad of options and bonuses available. For example, if you walk over a skull, there are a variety of fun random illness such as "lead foot" and hyperactivity that can develop. Each has a unique effect on your moving or bomb dropping capabilities. If that wasn't fun enough, there's a multiplayer mode as well.

A upgrade should be a bigger map... I don't think that this would be very hard to do. Perhaps this could be accomplished with external levels and an (decent) on-calc level editor.

This is possibly the best game I've ever played!

This is like a really addicting game my brother had on whatever version of linux that was called clan bomber...of course clan bomber was better, but that was on a computer with color and sound and a really good ai and stuff. Some things I liked on that:
1)For map you could pick "random" so it changed maps ever round
2)You could pick your sprite...there were options like different colored balls, snake things, and penguins
3)Ice squares, so you keep moving slowly in the last direction you were going...you can make some really fun maps with these
4)Open edge-no a line of blocks around the edge, so if you slide too close to the edge or get careless and move off the edge of the map, you fall and die

#1 and #4: easy to do. I'll put that in my to do list (eh, I first have to create my to do list)

An option for 4!
Also, do a level editor.

The level editor would require a enormous amount of work. First I am nearing the 64ko limit, and also this would require lot's of change in the link code.
But I didn't say I'll never do it :)

BTW, this game is open source: I didn't upload the sources yet but you can ask me the code and do your own modifications (if you are courageous enought that is :D )

Another cool thing would be random starting positions, instead of starting in the same place every time.

This game Kicks Ass. It's simply amazing. Beautiful sprites - well said. Beautiful gameplay, too, beautiful features, beautiful game!

It's just so damn fun to play! It makes you think about your 68K more and more as of a computer than of a calculator... damn... best gaming platform ever, this calculator!

This game is the best game ever made for 68k calculators. It even beats out Mario which at that time was number one. But not anymore, Bomber Dude has awsome graphics and great controls and gameplay that I have never seen in another game. One of the greatest things is that its BOMBERMAN. THE GREATEST GAME EVERY. I'm looking forward to future updates and external levels (hopefully).
