Virtual TI Passes 500,000 Downloads
Posted by Michael on 19 October 2004, 04:05 GMT

Virtual TI v2.5, currently our most downloaded file of all time by a wide margin, has passed the 500,000 downloads mark. This achievement is even more amazing when you consider the fact that VTI hasn't been updated in over four years. Congratulations to author Rusty Wagner on constructing the Egyptian pyramid of TI calculator programming.

Its jaw dropping. I have even pondered to the validity of the download count and have actually checked. They are valid!

Speaking of logos, you should make a mini-logo for people to use to link to your site.

That gives me a great idea for a April Fools joke. Temperarily change the logo to have a 89Ti instead of a regular 89. THAT would make a couple people mad. I guess it wouldn't be good NOW though.

Yeah, you just ruined it! :-P

Actually, I was thinking that if they changed the logo to the *cough*(01110110b)(190h)*cough* then that would be pretty funny... however, it would be much more noticeable than the change you mentioned.

I can feel a comment coming on from that particular person who insists the *cough*(01110110b)(190h)*cough* is real...

Heh, how come everybody always asks this? The logo has never changed in the time that I've been here, and I don't think it will change anytime soon (unless you guys know something I don't). ;-)

500K downloads is VERY impressive. It hardly seems possible, but if any program's going to get 500K+ downloads, it should certainly be VTI.

Because it's the only decent emulator for TI calculators. But isn't another one going to come out sometime soon?

Hmmmm, this is very interesting I too would like to know about this new emulator. I for one am kind of sick of not being able to use flash capabilities, usb support, suport for my ti89t, or any os greater than 1.12 on vti... whew ...OR... if version 3 of vti comes out then i hope that some of this stuff is added to it (right now the alpha version sucks)

Well, it's been released. It does support Flash and any version of the 83+ OS. It doesn't support MS Windows, though. You may have some luck running it under Cygwin.
