Desolate Released for the 83+
Posted by Michael on 18 August 2004, 18:56 GMT

[Desolate] Previously I reported on Desolate, a highly acclaimed RPG for the 83, and commented that "a 83 Plus version is planned shortly." Well, one hundred and thirty one days later, I'm happy to announce that the 83 Plus version is safely nestled in our archives. Just like its 83 counterpart, it features flickerless grayscale, 70 rooms, 26 items, 7 puzzles, and many other goodies.

That was an older version that had some bugs in it. I assume that tr1p1ea fixed those bugs.

Actually, he said he deleted all the source for the 83+ version, so I assume he re-ported it. ;)

What sort of bugs? I have a saved game in the older version; should I get the new one and just replay it?

Nothing more than text not showing or showing incorrectly. It had something to do with the data file (which holds most of the text) spanning across different FLASH pages, if I recall correctly.

YAY! It is out for 83+...I know a lot of people who will be happy to hear that it is out. Once again I am amazed by it's graphics LOL.

Yeah! The graphics look really great! The grayscale also looks very nice, for the TI-83. When school comes around, I'm going to download this on my friends' calculators so I can play it. :) And since it takes a while to beat it (a few people have said it took them a couple hours, IIRC), then it would keep your attention for a long time, which is good in a game.

Remember the message that appears when you try to look at that workstation? Search every room very carefully, and try to find some way to get it up and running.

This game is HUGE for only around 30K...
Someone could make a strategy guide for it.

I was planning to, but the author requested to wait a little with it so that I don't take away the fun for others

If it's released you can read it on the http://review.greenfirezone.com

These guys weren't killed by the player, you are just the only survivor of an accident (or kind of)

If these games continue to be developed as they have been recently, I think it may be safe to say that this month the turning point in calculator gaming. RPGs have always been out there for calculators but it seems as if, in the previous month, many have been released. I think, though I have not yet played it, this particular game sounds considerably better than any of the others.

This is NOT an rpg... it's a inventory puzzle adventure game.
