TI-Tiltmaze v1.21 for the 89/92+/V200
Posted by Michael on 25 July 2004, 05:10 GMT

[TI-Tiltmaze] Due to our severe news drought, I wish to announce that effective tomorrow under conservation rules, all users posting more than once a week, err...actually I thought I'd feature a program that's been in our archives for quite some time, but was just updated last week: TI-Tiltmaze. This is the calculator adaptation of the classic game where you tilt a maze to guide marbles to their destinations. TI-Tiltmaze comes with 41 levels, and v1.21 now adds 89 Titanium support.

Well, if it means that frequent posters are more likely to get their on-topic comments deleted, then there's no change.

No, it was a joke. It goes along with "severe news drought." If there were a real water drought, there would be restrictions on washing cars no more than once per week and such.

ticalc.org has 'Severe Physical Storage Drought' and thus must instigate a restriction on posts per user, saving an incalculable amount of server space.

How 'bout "no more than once a year", I don't want to wash my car. :)

Complicated

If this doesn't use a "dummy switch" system where ther's constant velocity when you push down a key and it changes abruptly to another vector (identical scalar, though), then this really took some physics knowledge, almost like Pinball.

Seems to me the programmer became really good friends with sine and cosine.

In the upload form, maybe I forgot to mention that the program was widely reorganized and optimized (in addition to the TIGCC 0.95 linker-side optimization).

So, Michael, did you just print out a list of updated 89 ASM games, and throw a dart at it?

I like this game, but after I beat every level but one, I never really touvhed it. It has been so long that I don't even remember that level that I could not pass. So, this has more levels?

No, it just contains the original levels, but it is adapted for the new calcs and AMS versions around.

I think that Andreas Gustafson (spelling?)'s Monochromatic 2 is another recent update that is very impressive (more so in my mind than this, since this is in C, and therefore ever-so-slightly easier to code).

I've looked through the list already and seen that, among others. I'm trying to space out the news items a bit now so we don't have 3 in one day :)

...but Monochromatic 2 has been out for ages, hasn't it?
Damn him, his filled triangles are much faster than mine :( *shrug* I tried, at any rate...

How does he manage to do that stuff? I'm sure if he released a routine to do stuff like that, it would be very popular. With the size of the file, however, and the (in my mind) complexity of making those graphics, I started to think he had saved each and every frame and was just playing them back.

And in response to "hasn't monochromatic 2 been out for a while?", no it has not. The first monochromatic has been, but this sequal is new.

It's not new, I've had it sitting on my hard drive for a long time...

Yep; that's what I meant.
I was impressed with the filled vectors, until I'd heard that he used precalculated coordinates for the points :P That's just cheating...

I'm currently working on a graphics demo for 83+; and yes, it'll have all the source with it so you can see how it's all done. Maybe the stuff is less impressive than the stuff Noice does, but it's the first demo I've ever written and features a load of old-school effects (plus a few new ones). Currently it weighs in at 9K and has six effects. I'll hopefully crunch that down a bit though and concentrate on slamming some more grooviness in (though quite a bit of that space are routines that are used globally, and stuff like text sprite data).

Speaking of which... it needs to be moved to the Ion folder, not the asm folder.
