Help Wanted
Posted by Morgan on 27 May 2004, 03:36 GMT

Last summer 2,476 programs were given screenshots, and this summer the plan is to get the rest of the assembly files complete. We had a great turnout last summer and we hope this summer will be the same. If you would like to help out this summer, any help would be put to use, even if you want to make screenshots for BASIC files. There are no rules and it's all done in your own time whenever you want. If you are willing to help e-mail me and I'll set you up with what you need to know.

I am also looking into the possibility of getting you guys community service hours (if you need them), however at the moment nothing is set in stone. I'll post updates. And finally I would like to point out that Brandon has uploaded a few level sets, the first in nearly 2 years, for Super Mario 86, the best program ever made :-)

Update (Joey): As suggested on the comment boards by Ben Cherry, it would be a great idea if people would rate each file after they make a screenshot, to make the rating system more effective.

...is it possible to gather some data from ticalc.org's website as to what programs need to be screenshotted without actually going to each directory?

It would be even better if you could get community service hours! Doing that would provide a great incentive for people to help and participate.

Hmm, that sounds fun...Hopefully by this year or the next every program that exists on this site will have a screenshot (except for the info files i guess)

The goal is to get all the ASM files done with exception to libraries and routine folders. But like I said if you want to make shots for basic files thats all good too :-)

Yeah, just use VTI and *printscreen* it's much easier if you just get the scale right and use something like Irfan View to set it as a gif format.
*I'm in again this time round, I've a new email addy though minus the "_calc"

What software do you guys use? I can't get VTI or other emulators that need ROM images to work (I have an 83+ with os 1.16 if that matters)

Basic Builder

I have an 83+ with os 1.15, and I have to use the VTI version 3 beta, which can only receive apps, so I use the basic builder to make apps and send them to VTI to make animated screenshots. It's really annoying.

VTI 2.5 beta 5 only works with 83+ up to 1.12.
VTI 3 alpha works with the newer versions.

Alright, I got this VTI 2.5 thing working but how do I send Apps (specificaly MirageOS) to it?

VTI 2.5 does not emulate Flash ROM for the 83+, so you won't be able to install apps or archive files. Use VTI 3.0 for that.

Or the TI Flash Debugger. You can actually hook up CalcCapture to that and it works just fine.

But then how can I get screen shots of MirageOS games? VTI 3.0 won't take programs. Will that Flash Debugger thing do that?

The flash debugger will work with programs and apps...
