Tankers 68k and Othello II for the 89
Posted by Michael on 6 April 2004, 23:10 GMT

Two notable programs were released this week for the 89:

[Tankers] Tankers 68k v6.0.1. This tank shooting game for the 89 and 92+ features both individual and multiplayer modes. For this version, the calculator's AI has been improved. Also new is the addition of five maps from a design competition.

[Othello] Othello II is the classic strategy game with an AI and stunning graphics. There isn't much else to say - if you like Othello, download it.

Would anyone be interested in seeing an 83/83+ version of tankers?

because nearly every 89 assembly program will have to be recompiled to run on the titanic, and TI changed alot of random stupid things that just ruined everything for programers...
[sarcasm]but it has more memory![/sarcasm]

So you're saying it's bad that they made the TI-89Ti?

Well, the programming differences between the TI-89 and TI-89Ti are no more different than the those of the TI-83 and TI-83+. Making a program to be compatible for both can't be hard. People do it all the time for 89/92+/v200 and 83/83+.

If you think it's bad that they made the TI-89Ti, do you think it is bad that they made the TI-83+ as well?

Really... I don't think it's that bad. I mean, they could have added some more features other than just more memory and USB support, but still...

Are they coming out w/ a new AMS for it? If so, will it work on a normal 89?

i think the 83+ was good because they added flash memory, but witht the 89Tthey aren't making it much better, just more memory and a USB connection, i don't think that this deserves a new calculator since most if not all programs will need to be re-written, i just think that the hassle isn't neccisary

but who knows, maybe it'll be really good, i can't wait till they make a completely NEW calculator that blows us all away and we'll sell our own brother just to get one....

Yeah... I really wish they would have added some more features, but the way I see it: You can't argue with 3x the amount of memory. :)

That, and the fact that it's the same price as the regular TI-89.

Of course MirageOS doesn't really like the 83+ SE very much. (crashes calc if you try to run a BASIC program with it) Then again, why do you need MirageOS to run BASIC programs anyway?
