ticalc.org Reaches 500,000,000 Requests
Posted by Michael on 4 March 2004, 04:00 GMT

An epic milestone in the development of ticalc.org was reached today: The 500,000,000th request. That's right, we've now served half a billion requests. Also, during the period from April 1997 to the present, our traffic has totaled 8.43 terabytes. For those of you interested in more such statistics, the Web Server Statistics page has a complete breakdown of our traffic.

We would like to thank you, the users, for bringing ticalc.org to where it is today. We hope to continue to serve the community and reach new levels of success in the future.

Judging from the exclamation points, I'd say about four times more.

Although the CAPS might mean something too...

Also, "alot" vs. "a lot". "A lot" is supposed to be two words.

Also, instead of:
wow, that is alot //very monotonously read...
it should be:
Wow, that is a lot!!!! //with lots of excitement!
(correcting capitalization, the spelling of "a lot," and the multiple exclamation points necessary for such a huge accomplishment of ticalc's part :D)

I made this comment before, but it disrupted the page display and was deleted...

assuming A>0 and LOT>2, A LOT!!!! is huge...

if LOT>4, then A LOT!!!!>one googelplex.

While we're on the subject... :)

Personally, I only prefer using multiple exclamation points when they're really, really, REALLY needed. And then no more than about two or three. Using more kind of dumbs down the excitement level. And using exclamation points too much also waters it down. If you use them sparingly, you won't often have to use more than one.

Right. I made that mistake in a spelling bee in sixth grade. I'll never make that mistake again. It's stupid that the "word" they gave me was actually two words. Whatever.

4 units * 0 units = 0 units^2
All units are in exclamation signs.

How'd you figure that out? This site would have started when I was in 6th grade or so, and I started coming in 7th grade, I think. That was way back when Dimension-TI was just starting up and was years away from getting a domain name of its own. It has been a while.

I realized that 288 after I posted. It does feel good. But if I recall, this site hasn't been a membership site for its entire life, so I guess I may even have a few more grey hairs than the number indicates.

Totally correct. The site started in 1996, accounts were added 1999... So there are a lot of us that were around before accounts :-)
