SimCity Comes to the 83/83+
Posted by Michael on 12 January 2004, 04:04 GMT

[SimCity 83]You've purchased the original, 2000, 3000, and now 4K. You've stared at the screenshots of the 86 version. Now SimCity fanatics, you can finally play SimCity on the 83/83+ in Ion. Xavier LaRue has released SimCity 83. While the game does not yet have all of the features of the original version, it is a promising development. It features the basics: roads, R/C/I zones, police and fire stations, powerplants, et cetera. The user interface is certainly very slick.

This is an awesome game. Regardless of how cheesy it seems. Simple amusement.

"awesome game" - Sure, programming side maybe; but this game never really amused me all that much, no matter what platform. (yay, finally spotted a program before it was featured)

I saw it too, but I thought that it was a basic game for some reason.

It did look like BASIC...gameplay is good, but graphics could be better. Most of the BASIC simcity games in the archives have better gfx, like sc2k3/4, and sc3k (one by me, one by someone else).

This looks more like Sim City Classic than Sim City 2000 because it has 2D graphics, rather than 3D.

That's odd... me too. But I could be thinking of a different sim city game, perhaps one of the ones that Kerm mentioned.

I was really big on Sim City 2000 when I was around ten. I would hunt for the lock ness monsters that would periodically appear in the game if you had enough boats in the water. It was a little easter egg in the game.

I was REALLY big on it between ages 7 and 12. I played for hours and hours. However, I never saw that Loch Ness monster!! Is it only on the windows version?

Uh... perhaps. SimCity2000? It's kinda hard to find. Get a lot of water... make a LOT of boats... and once you hear a roar, hit Ctrl+P as fast as you can. Then, search around. You should see him. I still have a few screenshots, I think.

Is it as realistic as the first computer game? All we can do is hope.

Probably took Michael this long to post a new item about this because it wasn't added to 83+ archives initially, but only to the 83 archives.
